3Once again thanks to bodcap for helping with the setup.
Force the encounter after opening the 2nd gate on the 2nd screen. (Encounter @ 161)
If the step fraction is 2 or 6 it will work.
If it is 4, it will not.
Every time you encounter an obstacle you need to let Quistis get stuck before interacting with it. This is what causes the setup to be consistent.
Be careful with the Gate/Wheel screens as you need to bonk, press and HOLD X to effectively move. If you only press X, Quistis cannot mount the wheel when you press X a second time. This means you would have to move and then mess up the setup.
On the final water wheel screen we do the setup to skip the encounter.
Enter the screen, wait for fade to end.
Exit Left
Hold Right to immediately re-enter during the fade.
Hold DR and confirm to mount wheel during fade.
Move Quistis, down then up 8 times.
the final move will be an up.
Press confirm while holding up to exit the screen and skip the encounter.
