FFT - Mime Run Part 3: Less Magicism, More Physicism
Third video in the series, where I clear the first three chapter 2 storyline battles. Having verified that mimicking Wizard spells is pretty easy and overpowered, I switch back to the physical jobs I have to develop some of the Mime combos that become available.
Dorter Trade City
This is a forced battle you have to beat before you can do anything (i.e. grind for JP on the map, which I kinda have to do at times so that Ramza and DEB always offer something new for the Mimes to mimic), so I'm not as well-prepared for this with the self-imposed ban on not using Ramza as a caster for now (which might change as he unlocks different caster classes that I'll be tempted to play around). Plus, Agrias and Gafgarion cannot use their special classes according to the rules of this run, so they both become casters (Knight class locked sadly).
Having two guests as casters is pretty extreme, as the AI (both guest and enemy) doesn't take Mimes' positions into account when choosing the target squares for their spells, which can result in Mimes targeting empty squares or, even worse, hitting themselves or other allies. The enemies can make our troubles even more pronounced by standing right next to the casters after being targeted with magic.
So this took quite a few attempts due to the additional restrictions I imposed on myself.
Ramza and DEB mostly fulfil support functions by having Haste cast on all controllable units in one go, healing and orchestra conducting the Mime attacks.
Araguay Woods
This is such an easy mission that I switched Gaf and Agrias to support classes so that their magic targeting doesn't make it actually harder for the party.
DEB becomes a Monk while Ramza switches to the Lancer class. The latter doesn't have any fancy longer-range Jumps yet, but being able to connect attacks at 2-range could prove to be useful. Monk offers healing without Item as a secondary ability, giving more space to spam Accumulate to accumulate in one hell of an accumulation for accumulated punch accumulations.
Boco was actually close to dying this time around, how rare! By the way, Mimes do have Monster Skill innate skills, so they're kinda more compatible with monsters in a way, but I'd rather focus on showcasing Mimes than monsters on this one run.
Zirekile Falls
Last easy mission for a while, as we strip Gafgarion naked so that female Mime can double-punch him dead quickly. After this, I send one Mime up and the other down into the water and they mirror different commands to gang up on the enemies alongside other characters.
Some masochism occurs as a result of troublesome facing on the earlier turns, but nothing some healing can't help with.
I liked that one Jump I mimicked towards the end there, so I started working on more elaborate Lancer-Mime combos in the further videos, so watch out for that in the next video or two.
