FE6 - Girls Only (Low Turns): Chapter 12x - Axe of Thunder
Chapter 12x is cleared in 5 turns (100 total).
Another Gaiden where we receive an S-rank that will not be used for a very long time, if at all... While Durandal may some day see some use in the hands of Fir (whose D rank swords at base and this game's turtlelike speed of ranking up weapon experience don't do her any favours), Armads could happen to be Echidna's weapon some time very, very late in the game... Assuming Echidna remains a functional until until then (with the level-up she got in the last chapter, this isn't entirely impossible).
So, on to the chapter itself. This is another Fog of War map, and I really wished I could just turn it off so that I can plan my actions more accurately for its completion. No such option I'm afraid, so this was done the hard way.
Lalum and two 8 move units in Thany and Sue was highly important for a 5-turn and it also wasn't the stiffest of 5-turns considering Lalum had a spare turn to use an Angelic Robe. This should do no wrong, as in this one map Lalum was OHKO'd by a Steel Bow archer. Having a durable dancer makes a lot of low-turn strategies possible, especially considering how we had to give up the Barrier staff in chapter 7 - long-range tomes are that much harder to survive for fragile units now.
I was also really happy about having trained Sue into a highly competent unit (blessed in strength). There was little Thany, the usual bosskiller, could do against the Berserker boss, even with her strongest weapon in Marcus's Silver Lance, but Sue has Killer Bow access and can actually hope to proc a crit from 2-range, 4HKOing this boss with 2 hits connecting and one of them critting.
Thany went for the chest containing the most expensive gem on the map in the meantime - the rest of the stuff cannot really be reached with units of this run's quality. I do open up an Elixir chest because that could prove to be useful without any good healers until Cecilia, and if I sent Lilina instead of Fir northwest I could've opened the Torch (item) chest as well. An important item, but I'm almost sure I'll be shopping for goods in the desert rather soon (need Nosferatu tomes and Pure Waters).
This is also a good self-improvement chapter for all those not involved in shaving off the turns. Both Fir and Tate reach level 10, so they could promote for great immediate stat gains and that extra point of move which would enable them not to lag behind. As of yet, I'm not sure whether this is the right time to promote these two or if I could level them up for more level-ups without hurting my turn counts.
We'll see what happens, we'll see.
