FFT - Mime Run Part 2: ...and It Ends?
Second video in the series of the Mime-themed playthrough I started recently, in which we round up the remaining storyline maps of chapter 1 very quickly. These clears have one thing in common - my usage of the Wizard class whose spells trusty mimes Gogo & Butz mimic with great success.
All four maps in the video are assassination missions, which end with the boss KO'd or, in Wiegraf's case, weakened (he doesn't even have to get into critical health technically but you still need to hurt him quite a bit, which is not always the easiest thing with his high HP and occasional magic evading).
I play around with all kinds of simple strats involving moving the Mimes so that they face certain enemies, awaiting Ramza to fire off a spell. Since Delita also went through Chemist to unlock Wizard, he adds some of his own magic to the mix, but unlike Ramza he doesn't have females' higher MA or the same stat growths Ramza managed to take in. The biggest reason why Delita isn't mimable very effectively is that the AI doesn't take miming into considerations when performing its action, which is a good thing for the enemies (we can lure them with mimes and then screw them over royally) and a bad thing for guests (some classes like Wizard will cause Mimes to act in a way that hurts the party).
The assassination maps are over pretty quickly, as a Ramza-cast on the boss followed by a mime "doublecast" is enough to quickly end the mission. In the second battle against Miluda, the female Mime finished Miluda off by a sword crit instead. This is why Accumulate is so useful - have Ramza/DEB use it when out of reach of enemies and it will result in pretty decent physically-offensive gains for 3/4ths of the party. Since Accumulate doesn't combo with the casters very well, this is a good reason to switch to physical classes for the next maps.
Overall, Wizard miming is pretty overpowered, even without learning the higher-end black magic, so I think it's a good time to switch to something else. I'll be showcasing some different strategies in the chapter 2 storyline clears to come.
