FFVIA - Locke Solo Part IV: up to Ultima Weapon
Good Lord, I've been trying to upload this video for two days now.
Locke is a very offensive character owing to his access to multiple elemental blades. Equip a blade, or two, that penetrate an enemy's weakness and you'll do ridiculous damage, made even more powerful when the random spell kicks in.
Flame Eater is the first to suffer from Locke's elemental madness. I equipped two Icebrands, a Genji Glove and a Hero's Ring. The result, as you can see, was impressive and the boss didn't last long.
The next weakness was Ultros, fortunately weak to both fire and lightning, so blades of respective elements were equipped. There wasn't a necessity to heal and, when Relm came in, I just killed him quickly (I'm not supposed to use Sketch to win, it's just the best way out in a non-solo game).
Then there was another encounter with Ulty and his friend, and the battle against the Air Force. I change blades when necessary. Ultima Weapon is a good weapon at this point, especially when my HP is high and there are no elemental weakness to exploit. I used the cover version of the decisive battle by Powerglove, because I had the sound turned off for some reason (and I also because I find the cover to be awesome). I hope you don't mind.
Then there was Ultima Weapon, a long-awaited combat. You expected me to get owned here, didn't you? Well, I also was in doubt if I could pull this off without having to grind to be able to win.
Watch the video and see Locke deal somewhat decent damage, until, all of a sudden, he starts throwing the Hawkeyes he's doublewielding for fantastic damage. I'll explain. When you attack with a Hawkeye, there is a 50% chance it will deal 150% damage and, if the enemy has the Float status, it may deal 300% damage and guess how much on a critical hit!
Well, Ultima Weapon happens to be a floating foe (it's immune to the Quake spell it sometimes casts), so it gets seriously injured whenever I get lucky. In fact, my luck here was outstanding. I got 2 critical Hawkeye tosses (each being a 1/32 chance) and Ultima cast Quake, healing me. It's amazing, but I didn't have to heal a single time in this battle! Moreover, doing such damage allowed Locke not to see either the dangerous Mind Blast or the fatal Flare Star altogether!
