FFVIA - Locke Solo Part V: Kefka's Tower 2/3
Locke's epic adventures in Kefka's Tower, second video out of, possibly, three. This time he kicks the backsides of Gold Dragon, Guardian and Demon.
Gold Dragon can't hurt you with the Thunder Shield on, so equip that and attack. When he's about to die, remove the shield in order not to gain any Magic Points. We're playing a Natural Magic solo here.
Then follows Guardian, probably the hardest boss in the challenge so far. Guardian is as fast as a cheetah, but that's not exactly the problem. Guardian enters various programs, each with the AI script of one of the previous bosses we've fought. Eventually (and actually very quickly) it'll be Dadaluma's turn and that means two weapons will be thrown at us. Guardian's level is far superior in comparison to Dadaluma's, as you might've understood, which means this program is fatal, and the only way to get around it is to jump. Relying on Jumping is, I believe, not the best idea for Locke. Another problem is Flare Star, used when Guardian enters the Ultima Weapon mode. It can be prevented by equipping a Flame Shield during the battle, however.
What I decided to do against Guardian was simply to defeat him before all the trouble starts. Atomic Rays is extremely powerful and usually one-hit kills Locke if he's wearing Genji Armor, so I equipped Force Armor for the elemental protection instead.
Guardian has quite a lot of HP and depleting it before he throws the two weapons is a tough job. My strategy was to hope Locke can allow himself to fight at the lowest possible HP with the Valiant Knife in one hand and a Blood Sword in another as soon as he finds himself at low HP, hoping that he manages to survive without having to waste too many turns on healing with X-Potions. Being at low HP also allows his Valiant Knife to be more powerful than ever before.
When I found myself avoiding a few physicals in a row and at nearly full health, I changed my second weapon back to Ragnarok. I ended this battle exactly in the midst of the deadly Dadaluma phase, quite possibly an instant before he would begin throwing items.
After that, I challenged Demon of the Warring Triad. I equipped a Flame Shield to absorb his Firaga counters and the powerful Flare Star, and chose Hermes Sandals and a Guard Bracelet (Auto-Protect + Shell). I decided against Reflect status, though it would've been a good choice too. Demon sometimes casts Stop, which obviously screws you up, and he also happens to be vulnerable to Stop himself. I've never seen him use Stop in any of my attempts, so I went with Guard Bracelet instead.
Demon also has powerful physicals and the Aero spell in his arsenal, so it's not entirely safe, even with the Flame Shield. He automatically gets Haste and Protect, the latter making any weapon but the Valiant Knife a joke, so that's what we use.
When he's approaching death, equip any shield that doesn't make you learn magic and finish him off. Hopefully, he won't cast Flare Star just after you've removed the shield.
