FIFA 22 TOTY DONNARUMMA REVIEW | 96 TEAM OF THE YEAR DONNARUMMA PLAYER REVIEW | FIFA ULTIMATE TEAM
FIFA 22 96 Team of the Year Gianluigi Donnarumma player review. Thanks for watching and below is a more detailed review of the card, please leave any suggestions for reviews you would like to see in the comment section.
Diving/height – Donnarumma is 6’5 putting him up there with some of the tallest goalkeepers in the game. This combined with his 98 diving base stat allows him to reach even some of the most difficult shots towards goal that a lot of other keepers would struggle to get a hand to. He rarely gets bad diving animations which means that most of the time you stand a good chance of Donnarummma making a good save. He also gets a good range of different diving animations depending on the situation and the type of shot you are facing which was great to see.
Reflexes – Similar to his diving, his reflexes are currently the best in the game at 97 and they don’t disappoint. Some of the saves Donnarumma is capable of making can be the difference between you losing and winning a game. All goalkeepers in FIFA have the potential to make good reflex saves every now and again, but this card can make those types of saves at close range consistently. Add his 6’5 frame to this and Donnarumma is very difficult to beat both inside and outside the box.
Handling – I did notice the stat boost in this area, as previous Donnarumma cards have always punched or palmed the ball away the majority of the time. However, this team of the year card did a better job of catching both shots and crosses into the box. I would say there is still room for improvement in this category as he still punched the ball and pushed away more shots than I think he needed to. But overall his handling was noticeably better than his other cards.
Speed – This stat has received the biggest upgrade over his other two cards in the game and makes him one of the fastest goalkeepers in FIFA 22. This Team of the Year Donnarumma is the type of goalkeeper that can fit anyone’s playstyle. His height and combination of diving and positioning makes him good for those who like to keeper their goalkeepers on their line. Alternatively, with this boost to his speed and a high reflex stat, he is more than capable of playing a sweeper keeper type role coming out to either collect the ball or to pressure the attacker by rushing them.
Distribution – His kicking was great for me. It has both accuracy and power which makes it easier to target your players downfield to start up a counter attack. I also had the chance to use his kicking off the floor in open play, this also had a decent amount of height and distance to it making it a good option if you need to clear the ball whilst under pressure. However, Donnarumma does not have the long throw trait which is always beneficial for a goalkeeper to have.
Positioning – Overall his positioning was great. From range he wasn’t stood too far off his line making him a good option against long shots. Inside the box he also held a good position when facing the oncoming attacker. He also did well to get across his line to reposition himself if your opponent passes across the box to another player. He does also have the comes for crosses trait which enables him to come out to collect the cross to prevent any pressure on goal. The only weakness I found is that his rushes out of goal trait did sometimes impact his positioning. It didn’t happen a lot, but sometimes Donnarumma would rush out towards the attacker in situations where staying on his line would’ve been the better option.
