Final DOOM: The Plutonia Experiment - Ultra Violence - Map 07-11
Map 07.
Starts off, and progresses similar to Dead Simple from DOOM II, but it's much harder. You start in a central Courtyard area of a castle type island that's surrounded by a moat. Take out the Mancubi and watch the Revenants storm the walls. Lower the lifts if the Revenant barrage is becoming too much and get a few shots off on the Arachnotrons. Once you can get into the corner on top, you're safe(r) take out the rest of the guys from one corner and then beware the Archvile that will spawn. It can teleport between the two cages, so that can cause you problems.
It gets a bit easier once you've cleared the castle area out, as the Arachnotrons aren't difficult, but there are a lot of Commandos right near the end, so your Plasma rifle will come in handy.
Map 08.
You start in a castle type area again, and once inside you'll find yourself in a circular room, a lot of the triggered events will probably cause you to come back to here.
Most switch presses and key presses will trigger some kind of enemies to appear. The switch on the other side of the water after killing Mancubi will trigger Revenants, but the more annoying one is probably the Commandos after nabbing the Blue Key.
The prize goes to the final ambush, however. Right as you see the exit a bunch of Archviles and Revenants will spawn in. I wish I just rushed the exit when there was just the one Archvile.
Map 09.
Knowing where the Invulnerability Sphere in the Blue Key area will certainly help. You'll get a lot of Revenants and Imps spawning in, and a few Rockets certainly would help. I just about manage to kill them all before the effect wears off.
The mid section is pretty easy, you'll get the Yellow Key and the Red Key close together, but beware the Archvile hiding in the shadows as you return to the main room.
The end section has a big ambush for you and an exit surrounded by Commandos. It's worth getting the Invisibility to minimise the damage, but don't spend time with the Barons beforehand.
Map 09.
I do 'cheat' on this level, but I've already played it on the PSX version. There's no Cyberdemon in comparison to the PSX version, as it was intended there as the final level of Final DOOM PSX.
There are more Revenants, Baros and Mancubi than I remember though.
Map 11.
How to describe this map.
One of my favourite, but at the same time least favourite maps in any of the classic DOOMs. Being stuck in a Labyrinth with Archviles isn't a pleasant experience (yet because this is DOOM, it works very well), especially when they seemingly pop up behind you at random. You have to know where you are constantly, as well as where any you've left alive might be.
I believe the opening and closing of doors is triggered largely by passing through segments that have the grey metal on the wall.
It's definitely a unique map.
