Final DOOM: The Plutonia Experiment (UV Playthrough) [PC] - MAP27: Anti-Christ
I despise this map, and for one specific reason.
Abundance of Chaingunners?
Long-range Revenants/Chaingunners?
Plethora of Damagesectors?
While all of these factors are indeed reasons to find this map about as enjoyable as paying your neighbour's taxes, they're not what makes it just plain deplorable.
No. It's that one Chaingunner that never stays dead.
The dickhead in charge of this map placed an Arch-Vile in a sheltered neighbouring sector, allowing the Zombie to be resurrected indefinitely. There's absolutely nothing you can do about it either; unlike the pair used in MAP15: The Twilight (another map I don't like but for different reasons), this sector isn't tagged to any effects - this particular Arch-Vile cannot be killed at all.
So there we have it. Some cheaply-placed motherfucker defended by his babysitter, taking eternal potshots at you from his nest on map with an already-irritating variety, with essentially infinite lives to do it with. And we're not allowed 100% kills for it either.
The rest of the map's average at best because of this. It's another "The Living End" styled area, right up to the 'Boss' guarding the exit, but that Chaingunner just ruins it completely. You'll invariably take damage from the son of a bitch, and turn the air blue every time the shitbag scores a hit. A real shame, because other than that it's pretty well-designed and an ideal map for the run-up to the finale.
