Final Fantasy 7 - Walkthrough - Part 34 - Chocobo Breeding - Part 1
100:00 - If you have mastered an All Materia and money is no object, this is a great point to start Chocobo Breeding. The aim is to breed a Gold Chocobo that can move anywhere on the map to collect all of the valuable materia you can't access otherwise.
Start off by heading to the Chocobo Farm.
00:25 - Enter the building on the left and talk to Choco Bill. Rent the max total of six Chocobo stables for 60,000 Gil.
03:18 - Head next door to the stables, speak with Choco Billy and stock up on some Curiel Green for catching Chocobo, these will distracts a Chocobo for 4 turns.
03:45 - Next, we need some Nuts that are required to breed Chocobo. First, head to the Bone Village area and random battle on the grassy area. Make sure you equip Steal materia then battle until you find the Vlakorados enemy.
04:50 - They have 33,333 HP so steal a Carob Nut from them while you whittle down it's HP. Once you have the nut, you can use the Laser enemy skill to quickly defeat it.
07:05 - Fight another two of them until you have 3 Carob Nuts in total.
09:00 - If you run into the Trickplay enemy (they look like the Mu enemy) you can learn the L4 Suicide enemy skill from them.
11:30 - Next, you want to collect a Zeio Nut. For this, head to Goblin Island at the north-east part of the map and random battle in the forest area to battle the Goblin enemy. Steal a Zeio Nut from them.
13:18 - Now we can continue on with catching the Chocobo's we're going to need. First, head to the Chocobo tracks on the area south- east of the Gold Saucer. Make sure you equip your Chocobo Lure materia and move your Greens to the top of your item list. We want to catch a 'Good' Chocobo here. You can tell what type of Chocobo you are going to get by the enemies that they appear with in battle.
In this area a Chocobo paired with a Harpy enemy will always be an 'Average' Chocobo. A Chocobo paired with two Flapbeat enemies will also be an 'Average' Chocobo.
14:26 - When you have a Chocobo battle with two Spencer enemies, this will always be a 'Good' Chocobo so feed it some greens and quickly dispatch the enemies to catch this one. Then choose to "Send it back to the stables".
15:04 - Head over to the Chocobo Farm and make sure that you save the game. Go to the stables and speak to Choco Billy, selecting “Moving Chocobos”. You will see the Chocobo you’ve just caught and he will say “Mmm, this seems like a good Chocobo”. Select this Chocobo to move it into the stable. It will then tell you the gender of the Chocobo and allow you to choose a name. Make sure this one is a Male Chocobo. If it is a female, reload the game and repeat this until you get a male one.
17:10 - Now we need to catch a female 'Great' Chocobo. Go to the tracks next to Mideel, or Rocket Town and equip the Chocobo Lure Materia. At Rocket Town, a 'Great' Chocobo will appear with two Valron or with two Kyuvilduns enemies.
21:15 - If you don't have any luck at Rocket Town, head to Mideel, a 'Great' Chocobo will appear with one or two Spiral enemies. Once again, get off the Chocobo and choose to 'Send it back to the stables'.
23:20 - Head back to the Chocobo Farm, save the game again and talk to Choco Billy. Select “Moving Chocobos” and selected your 'Great' Chocobo. This time the Chocobo’s gender should be a Female . If Choco Billy says that he’s male, reload the game and repeat until you get a female.
34:40 - You should now have a 'Good' Male and a 'Great' Female Chocobo. Fly to the Chocobo Sage’s house, in the Icicle Inn area on the northern continent and buy 10 Sylkis Greens for 50,000 gil total.
26:00 - Go back to the Chocobo Farm, talk to Choco Billy and select 'Feeding Chocobos'. Feed each of your Chocobos 5 Sylkis Greens each to boost their stats.
27:30 - Next, make your way to the Gold Saucer and to the Chocobo Square. You will need to race the two Chocobos we've caught and move them up to Class B. Go to the Chocobo Square and
29:12 - Talk to Ester and she will ask you which Chocobo you would like to register, and the length of the race you would like. The short race is definitely easier so choose this one. Race and win 3 times with each of your Chocobos to move them both up to Class B.
41:50 - With them both at Class B, head back to the Chocobo Farm. Save the game and talk to Choco Billy, select 'Mating Chocobos'. Click on the 'Good' and 'Great' Chocobos to select them, then select the Carob Nut. You should now have a male or female Green or a Blue Chocobo.
45:00 - You can't breed the same Chocobo's straight away so head outside and fight about 10 random battles.
55:15 - Make sure you save the game again and speak with Choco Billy again, select 'Mating Chocobos'. Click on the 'Good' and 'Great' Chocobos to select them, then select the Carob Nut again. This time you need to get the alternate colour and gender of the first Chocobo you got e.g in this game I got a Female Blue Chocobo so I needed a Male Green Chocobo. Just reload the save and repeat until you get it.
