Final Fantasy 7 - Walkthrough - Part 38 - Ancient Forest
100:00 - There is another side quest we can complete with a Gold or Black Chocobo to collect some rare items. Get your Gold Chocobo and ride it to the Cosmo Canyon area.
02:50 - You will notice a little rock area sticking out with red flowers at the top. This is the Ancient Forest. Dismount from your Chocobo and enter.
03:20 - Start off by crossing the walkway over to the right side of the screen. There is a small item inside of a large red flower to pick up. Walk slowly to the center pressing the okay button to pick up the Supershot ST weapon for Vincent. If you get too close to the centre, the flower will cause you some damage.
03:55 - Next, pick up the three jumping Insects, one at a time from under the walkway and place them close to the ledge to the right that leads to the Blue Flowers. When all three Insects are here, you'll have enough time to place them in the blue flowers one by one and jump across to the other side.
04:40 - Go right and pick up the Spring Gun Clip weapon for Red XIII on the ground. Go right to the next area.
05:05 - Run forward and pick up the jumping Insect. Continue to the right until you reach a large piece of a flower hanging down and the screen will prompt you to either “Jump” or “Stay”. Choose to jump up to the next level and then put the Insect that you picked up into the blue flower here to jump to the other side.
05:30 - Pick up the Frog, then continue right to see a small ledge in between two of the blue flowers. Use the Frog on the blue flower on the left. Have Cloud jump onto the flower and wait until the frog bursts out. This will launch Cloud to the red platform with the Beehive item. Pick up the Beehive and jump down.
06:22 - Move towards the red flower to the left and press the okay button when you are near it to have Cloud throw the Beehive into it. The flower will snap shut, allowing you to pick up the yellow Slash-All Materia on the ground.
06:33 - Pick up the Frog again, then continue right with the ledge in between the blue flowers again. Place the frog inside the blue flower on the right this time and have Cloud jump onto it, wait until the frog bursts out and you will be launched to the right side of the screen. Exit to the right to the next area.
07:30 - Pick up the two Insects here and move them both next to the blue flowers to the right again. When they are both close to the blue flowers, put both of the Insects into the flowers one after the other then go across. Cloud will use the hanging flower to launch himself to the treetop area above.
07:52 - Walk to the left and follow the trunk of the tree down to the previous screen. Continue down and pick up the Minerva Band armour. This armour only be equipped by Tifa, Aeris or Yuffie. It nullifies Fire, Cold, Gravity and Holy magic. Then jump off the tree trunk to the left side.
08:00 - Pick up the Frog here and place it inside the blue flower on the right again. Have Cloud jump onto the flower and wait until the frog bursts out of the flower. Continue to the right again to get to the screen we were previously at.
08:29 - Use the two Insects to go back up to the treetops, go left again but this time head upwards and follow the branch around to the left and then over to the right side of the screen. Rather than heading downwards towards the exit at the bottom of the screen, follow the pathway leading upwards towards the broken branch and Cloud will automatically jump to the right of the screen. Pick up the item here which is the Typoon Summon Materia.
09:10 - Run to the top of the branch to jump back over to the broken branch area and then take the exit out the bottom of the screen into the next area.
09:25 - Grab one of the Insects on the right side of the screen and throw it into the blue pitcher flower furthest to the right on this screen. Jump onto the flower and press back on the directional pad to have Cloud jump up to the next flower and then up onto the red platform with the Beehive. Grab the beehive and jump back down.
09:45 - Throw the Beehive into the red flower to close it. Pick up another Insect and place it into the blue flower just to the left of the closed flower and jump across. Grab an Insect and place it in front of the opening in the tree to make a Frog appear.
10:24 - Leave the Frog next to the blue flower at the right then pick up an Insect at the very left and place it into the blue flower to the right so you can jump across, but grab the frog and take it with you before you jump over.
11:00 - Place the frog into the blue flower furthest to the right and then jump onto it. Wait for the frog to burst out and you will be launched over to the other side of the screen.
11:20 - Enter the cave to the right. Open the chest at the bottom right to find the Triple Materia Growth Apocalypse weapon for Cloud. There is a chest to the north with an Elixir. Take the exit at the top of the screen to return to the world map.
