Game: Final Fantasy
Platform: NES
Completed: May 31, 2022
Rules: Beat the game with a team of four Black Mages. Promoting to Black Wizards is allowed.
Part: 3 of 6

Now that they've spent some time becoming amazing, this team of Black Mages decide to continue their quest to get the Triforce. Or something.

Here are some highlights:

1 minute, 15 seconds - Here's a particularly fun door glitch for no reason.

4 minutes, 50 seconds - Funny bat blocker here. Get out of the way! Kee....Kee....

9 minutes - You can actually repeat a forced encounter simply by stepping on the same tile again.

14 minutes - Astos has a chance to use RUB on his first turn and just kill one of your people with absolutely nothing you can do about it. Generally when that happens I like to reset since I'd like for all of my characters to get the experience from the battle.

22 minutes - Well the broom said "TCELES B HSUP" so I did. Pressing B+SELECT while outside gives you a nice map of the world.

41 minutes, 20 seconds - The only enemy in the battle fled. One experience point.

53 minutes, 40 seconds - In some cases, if you go to your menu, leave the menu, and press against a townsperson as they are trying to walk against you, you will walk through them! I wonder if there are any really cool things you can do or any places you can get stuck with this glitch.

1 hour, 7 minutes, 40 seconds - I wonder how many people have stepped on the tile above this town.

1 hour, 13 minutes - The hallway to the left for some reason has a forced battle every step of the way that contains Giants and Iguanas. Not really sure why they did this since it leads nowhere. This team chose to avoid.

1 hour, 24 minutes - This slab vanishes when you open the menu or get into a battle.

1 hour, 35 minutes, 30 seconds - There's a cool looking door glitch.

1 hour, 40 minutes, 30 seconds - Other than staying at an inn, the only way to replenish magic charges is to use a house. There is an oddity with the house though. It replenishes your health, saves your game (if you choose to), and then restores your magic, in that order. This means that if you use a house, choose to save, and then turn off your game, when you reload the game your hit points will be restored but your magic will not have been replenished since it does so after saving. The best way around this that I could find was to use a house and then use a tent and save again, since they're only worth 75 GP anyways.

1 hour, 47 minutes, 20 seconds - If you pause the game or get into a battle, you can clearly see the staircase underneath the slab here. That changes nothing. Turns out that you can remove the slab by using the ROD from a distance. I tested how far away you could be and it seems that you have to be in the actual little room with the slab itself. This also changes nothing and is similar to using the FLOATER later in the game.

1 hour, 59 minutes, 30 seconds - Damageless Lich battle. Nice.

2 hours, 13 minutes, 40 seconds - Oddly, the guy who stands in the entrance says you need the crown to proceed and then disappears when you talk to him. I was curious if you needed to talk to him or not but it appears that you don't. Also...the crown? That's a strange requirement since there's no way to get to this point without it and it was already used for something else. This must have been a mistake. I end up speaking to him later and it seems to change nothing.

2 hours, 20 minutes - Fight multiple forced encounters for gains here.

2 hours, 33 minutes - If you take the time to speak to everyone in this game, you actually get hints to pretty much everything you need to do. Some hints only happen if certain parts of the game are completed though.

2 hours, 47 minutes, 40 seconds - All these instant death attacks that can't be nullified regardless of level or gear. That's some Final Fantasy nonsense right there.

3 hours, 7 minutes, 50 seconds - Here's another one of those good contextual clues.

3 hours, 11 minutes - There are actually no enemies in this desert unless you happen to touch the grassy areas.

3 hours, 20 minutes - This is a wonderful thing to do and is highly recommended.
