Game: Final Fantasy
Platform: NES
Completed: June 6, 2022
Rules: Beat the game with a team of four White Mages. Promoting to White Wizards is allowed.
Part: 3 of 6
Now that they've spent some time becoming amazing, this team of White Mages decide to continue their quest to collect all of the Chaos Emeralds. Or something.
Here are some highlights:
6 minutes - Did I just walk right through that bat? Kee!
19 minutes, 40 seconds - Absolutely absurd Astos fight took like 15 minutes. Good thing I muted him. Also MUTE MUTE.
38 minutes, 20 seconds - Jerk wouldn't get out of the way. In some cases, if you go to your menu, leave the menu, and press against a townsperson as they are trying to walk against you, you will walk through them! I wonder if there are any really cool things you can do or any places you can get stuck with this glitch.
42 minutes - Well the broom said "TCELES B HSUP" so I did. Pressing B+SELECT while outside gives you a nice map of the world.
43 minutes - You cannot get into random battles on seaport tiles for some reason, but you can use a tent, cabin, or house while on the water!
1 hour, 9 minutes, 20 seconds - The hallway to the left for some reason has a forced battle every step of the way that contains Giants and Iguanas. Not really sure why they did this since it leads nowhere. This team chose to avoid it and remain on mute.
1 hour, 12 minutes, 15 seconds - You can never run from Wizards so they can be particularly burdensome.
1 hour, 34 minutes, 20 seconds - This slab vanishes when you open the menu or get into a battle.
1 hour, 44 minutes, 40 seconds - Other than staying at an inn, the only way to replenish magic charges is to use a house. There is an oddity with the house though. It replenishes your health, saves your game (if you choose to), and then restores your magic, in that order. This means that if you use a house, choose to save, and then turn off your game, when you reload the game your hit points will be restored but your magic will not have been replenished since it does so after saving. The best way around this that I could find was to use a house and then use a tent and save again, since they're only worth 75 GP anyways.
1 hour, 55 minutes, 50 seconds - If you pause the game or get into a battle, you can clearly see the staircase underneath the slab here. That changes nothing. Turns out that you can remove the slab by using the ROD from a distance. I tested how far away you could be and it seems that you have to be in the actual little room with the slab itself. This also changes nothing and is similar to using the FLOATER later in the game.
2 hours, 7 minutes - I WILL use the LAMP spell successfully.
2 hours, 12 minutes, 45 seconds - This is a wonderful thing to do and is highly recommended. I wonder how many people have stood on that tile above the town.
2 hours, 20 minutes, 15 seconds - You can also use a tent, cabin, or house while riding the canoe. Right after that, the guy who stands in the entrance says you need the crown to proceed and then disappears when you talk to him. I was curious if you needed to talk to him or not but it appears that you don't. Also...the crown? That's a strange requirement since there's no way to get to this point without it and it was already used for something else. This must have been a mistake. I end up speaking to him later and it seems to change nothing.
2 hours, 22 minutes, 30 seconds - The MudGOL battle here is a forced one, but fortunately you can run from forced encounters.
2 hours, 27 minutes, 40 seconds - Your NIGHTMARE!
Also, you can repeat forced encounters so I decided to grind these ZombieD battles for a bit.
2 hours, 38 minutes - Crown man vanishes.
2 hours, 43 minutes, 40 seconds - If you take the time to speak to everyone in this game, you actually get hints to pretty much everything you need to do. Some hints only happen if certain parts of the game are completed though.
2 hours, 51 minutes - You can't run from this battle for some reason.
2 hours, 58 minutes - There is a forced encounter with FrWolves there so I passed up the money in that last chest.
3 hours, 13 minutes, 50 seconds - Here's another one of those good contextual clues.
3 hours, 18 minutes, 10 seconds - There are actually no enemies in this desert unless you happen to touch the grassy areas.
3 hours, 33 minutes - This is still a wonderful thing to do and is highly recommended.
3 hours, 35 minutes, 50 seconds - You can go above the waterfall here but it leads to nothing.
