Previously, the party explored Istory Falls. They found the Fourth Tablet and acquired the Leviathan summon. Afterwards, they obtained the last remaining sealed weapons at Castle Kuza. They also farmed for a Judgment Staff and a couple of Dragon's Whiskers. They concluded by stocking up on rings in the Phantom Village. Now, the party will explore the Phoenix Tower and North Mountain for the last two summons in the game.

Merged World - World Map:

The party resumes outside the Phantom Village. They mount the Black Chocobo and fly to the Gloceana Desert in the northeast of the world. The only way they can access this desert now is to land in the eastern woods on the Black Chocobo. There is no airship access. Gloceana Desert has three enemy types: Ankheg, Ammonite, and Landcrawler. The party puts Float on to avoid earthquake damage. The best way to defeat the Landcrawler is instant death.

The Phoenix Tower is in the southwestern corner of the Gloceana Desert. After resting with a Cottage and saving, the party goes inside.

Phoenix Tower (time 2:33):

The party starts on floor 1F. The Phoenix Tower has a small selection of annoying enemy types: Lemure, Parthenope, and Cherie. There are also five Magic Pots in this dungeon.

On many floors, there are two doors. One exit is trapped, and the other is not. The trapped exits require the party to clear a winnable fight before they can continue. On 1F, the safe door is to the west.

The party continues up to floor 2F. The way up is to the south.

The party goes up to 3F.

Bartz reaches Level 42.

The safe door on floor 3F is to the west.

The party continues up to 4F. The safe door is to the east.

The party continues up to floor 5F.

Krile reaches Level 42.

Before the party examines the eastern pot, they prepare to fight a Magic Pot. Bartz and Faris each equip a Dragon's Whisker. Everyone equips Hermes' Sandals for auto-Haste. Faris equips "!Rapid Fire" and !Mix.

The party examines the eastern pot to battle the Magic Pot. Magic, summons, and songs are unusable in a Magic Pot battle. Each round, the Magic Pot will fully restore itself. The easy way to deal with a Magic Pot is to give it an Elixir and hope it goes away. It will leave behind 100 ABP.

However, a Magic Pot can be defeated. The party uses the mix Maiden's Kiss + Dragon Fang = Dragon Kiss to make the Magic Pot a dragon-type. This will make the Dragon's Whiskers deal additional damage to it. Afterwards, they use the mix Holy Water + Antidote = Samson's Might repeatedly on Bartz and Faris to raise their levels to Level 99+. Fortunately, mixes can be mimed. Finally, the party uses the Judgment Staff as an item to cast Dispel on the Magic Pot.

When the party is ready, they go all out with Rapid Fire from Bartz and Faris. With the Hermes' Sandals, they are each fast enough to get in a couple of Rapid Fires before the Magic Pot can heal itself.

Faris reaches Level 42.

After dealing with the Magic Pot, the party gets a Phoenix Down from the eastern pot. Faris equips "!Blue Magic" in place of !Mix. The party equips their former gear.

The western pot contains 5,000 gil.

The party goes upstairs to floor 6F. The way up is to the south.

The party continues up to floor 7F. The safe door is to the west.

The party goes up to floor 8F.

In a battle, the party learns the Blue Magic spell Roulette from a Parthenope. Roulette inflicts instant death on a random target among the party members and monsters in battle. Naturally, Roulette must strike a qualified learner for the party to learn it.

The player earns the achievement "Learning- Genius" for learning all kinds of Blue Magic techniques. There are 30 in total.

On floor 8F, the safe door is to the west again.

The party continues up to floor 9F. The safe door is to the east.

The party continues up to floor 10F. The western pot contains 10,000 gil.

Before the party examines the eastern pot, Bartz changes his job to Monk. Faris changes her job to Berserker. The party examines the pot to encounter another Magic Pot. They use an Elixir to make the enemy go away.

At the end of the battle, Bartz jumps to Monk Level 4. At Monk Level 3, he masters !Chakra. At Monk Level 4, he masters Counter. Faris reaches Berserker Level 1 and masters Berserk.

After dealing with the Magic Pot, the party gets a Phoenix Down from the eastern pot. Bartz and Faris change back to Freelancers. Bartz equips "!Spellblade Lv. 6" and "!Rapid Fire". Faris equips !Mug and "!Blue Magic".

The party continues up to floor 11F. The way up is to the south.

The party goes up to floor 12F. The safe door is to the west.
