Final Fantasy X-2 - Part 42 - Beating Paragon & Trema in Under 20 Minutes (HD Remaster Version)
This can be done.
First thing you'll want to do is have unlocked the Ruin Depths at Clasko's Ranch. If you've been following the guide, then it should already be there. Now equip a Lure Bracer and head into the dungeon until you come across Ultima Weapon. This is the enemy you'll want to encounter several times. Keep fighting this creature until you see it oversoul. Once that happens, ESCAPE. I'll get into that next.
After escaping an Ultima Weapon with oversoul, make sure that your characters are all level 99. Again, if you've been following my guide, should've already happened. Next thing is to obtain the Mascot dressphere, but you should already have that. Now for Mascot, the only crucial abilities you will need to learn is Cactling Gun on Paine's Mascot dressphere, as well as Moogle Cureja for Yuna's dressphere. Also, you will want one of your girls to have learned Bribe via Lady Luck dressphere that's not Paine, so either Rikku or Yuna. Once all that's learned, check to see if you have an Invincible and Ragnarok accessory, as well as 1,000,000 Gil (which can be easily gotten via CONGRATS!). You do? Great, now onto the Via Infinito bosses.
Setup:
Yuna - Lady Luck (then change to Mascot after Paragon) - Crystal Bangle + Speed Bracer
Rikku - Mascot - Crystal Bangle + Speed Bracer
Paine - Mascot - Invincible + Ragnarok
All girls using the Valiant Lustre Garment Grid (Defense & Magic Defense +20).
With that setup and having escaped from Ultima Weapon, save at the entrance and then head to the final floor of the Via Infinito. Once there, you will immediately encounter Paragon. Normally, he will kill you before you get the chance to Bribe. But with him now being in oversoul status, that leaves you plenty of time to Bribe him with 1,000,000 gil. Doing so will give you Dark Matter x17 and allow you to head into Trema unscathed. Now onto the main battle.
Trema: The moment you enter battle, immediately switch out your Lady Luck dressphere back to Mascot. In this case, it was Yuna, though it could be for Rikku as well, depending on who you chose. With all three back in Mascot, now go to Paine and into her abilities. If you learned Cactling Gun, it will normally cost you 99 MP. But with Ragnarok equipped, it will now be 0. And not only that, but with Invincible equipped which allows Break Damage Limit, every time you use her ability, Cactling Gun can deal anywhere between 25k all the way up to almost 60k at max levels. As for the other two girls, have Yuna heal with her Kupo! ability, namely Moogle Cureja, and have Rikku on standby to give her ethers when her MP depletes.
With this setup, you should be guaranteed a win in under 20 minutes. The only thing to watch out for is Ultima and Meteor. Ultima he'll cast only once in battle, and Meteor several times. But if you're healing constantly with Yuna, as you should be, then those attacks should present no problems. If you feel one of your characters is too low, throw out an X-Potion here or there to fully heal them and revive with Phoenix Downs as needed.
And that's it. Even though it sounds like a lot, if you've been watching this guide, you should already have those accessories. Granted, I know some still use Cat Nip + Speed Bracer, but unless your girls have really good luck stats (which mine didn't), that character will be missing far more than if you were to continue using Cactling Gun.
With Trema defeated, watch the cutscene as you have now finished the Via Infinito. For doing so, your prize will be an Iron Duke, which is easily the best accessory in the game.
And that's it. Good luck and I promise you that with this setup, it's nearly foolproof for an easy win.
Enjoy guys!
