FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE - Walkthrought Part 01 - The Hunt for the Rogue Tomato
I'm beginning a new Walkthrough of Final Fantasy XII/12 - a game first released in 2006 for the PlayStation 2 (I bought the PS2 version in 2007 and remember not being able to put it down the first time I played it but then didn't return to it in years) and then later remastered for the PlayStation 3, the PlayStation 4 and the PC.
So I've bought the PC-remaster of the game named "Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age released in 2017 for the PC and the PS4 - this version was also released on the PS2 in Japan only but without the Remastered graphics of course- the difference between "The Zodiac Age" and the original PS2 release is the job-system which is now much better with the player being allowed to pick a job for each character after which he or she can specify what Licences he or she wants the character to learn - jobs such as Knight, White Mage, Red Mage, Black Mage, Machinist, Archer etc - in the original game every character had access to every License and there were no jobs - you could say that the original system was more of a mess and many characters ended up the same in their skills and attributes - the Zodiac Age delivers the ability to make each character unique in their skills and abilities which improves their usage by a lot.
Of course the Remaster has much improved textures as well improving the graphics a bit. And it's all been forced into a 1920/1080p HD resolution. I'm also using a bunch of mods improving all the textures in the game even further, improving the gameplay such as the length of in-game buffs or the accuracy of certain attacks - Party Members can now avoid enemy traps on their own and I can have 4 party members in a party instead of just 3 - lots of improvements to the party and such.
So back in 2007 I had played non-stop until I reached the area where Vaan, Balthier, Fran and Basch needed to find their way out of some electric tunnels. In this area I died all the time and I couldn't progress until I decided to use my Action Replay Cheat Codes to give my characters higher levels. I do believe that the game became a bit boring when using cheats while also being a bit too difficult without them. That's probably why I never returned to the game until 2013 six years later when I replayed everything I had already done in 2007 on the same PS2 PAL copy of the game that I still own.
I did buy the PS4-release of the game which was the same as the PC-release but then I ended up buying the PC-version due to wanting mods. The PC-version is for STEAM only so I will need to finish the game before the end of the year as STEAM won't work on Windows 7 after that - I'd have to update my windows which I'm not certain I will do - because I feel like they're gonna force the player to update to Win 11 later in a few years anyway so in the end a new computer will be needed.
I'm gonna check where I quit playing on the PS2. I do own the official Strategy Guide for the game that I used in the past when Playing the PS2-title. I haven't used it when playing the PC-game.
So in this video I'll be playing through the intro, the Prologue with Vaan's brother Reks and Basch - and then Vaan will do the quest to hunt for the Pumkin ending the video with Vayne entering Rabanastre. I did play much more but this is where the first video ends - at 1 hour, 21 minutes long.
