Combo video for Fire Emblem Warriors. Apologies for the reupload, but I finally learned how to make YouTube not make my videos look awful... It's still in Switch capture quality, but this should look a lot more presentable, as should all my videos from now on...

This is what happens to uploads if you don't upload in 4k.

This game took me by surprise, I really shouldn't have underestimated this game genre. This one heavily leans in on the ability to launch enemies and keep them up there, even for Warriors standards. The pair-up system is really good. It lets you instantly change between two characters as much as you want, no matter what they're doing... it's extremely fun to cancel attacks to keep chaining into one another.

I think the pegasus knights are particularly fun to play around with, as switching characters during their flight allows for some fun juggles, not to mention their entire kit in general is possibly the most optimized for juggling in the game.

I tried to showcase every moveset in a combo at least once, but I am a bit biased to the Awakening cast. There are a lot of fun combo-pair ideas I feel I still haven't messed around with.

Also, this video is without characters using Astra... a skill which greatly boosts attack animation speeds. Some exceptions though, Ryoma is using it (the original user of it in this game), and archers, because... the archers in this game can barely juggle even with Astra. Either way, giving characters Astra makes juggling a joke, and probably allows for some crazier combo setups.

A lot of this video was made by fighting outpost captains, with bronze weapons and using the enemy-max-level blessing. This is because outpost captains never tech out of combos, and they don't exist in the weapon triangle... so you can use all your attacks without triggering weak points, and your pair-up assist attack always bounces the enemy back towards you.

All of these combos are generally possible on most generic captains, but they tech out of stuff randomly at a very low rate. And all of it is possible even on other named characters with their weak point triggered. But of course, the weak point gauge breaks eventually which ends combos.

I was doing a lot of reloading for clips, so unfortunately a lot of the game popups did get in the way. But even playing normally, it's been a strategy game in itself to try and combo enemies without triggering the weak point gauge, as you have to make sure you're not at a weapon advantage, and assists must be at disadvantage for the bounce.

All in all, this game certainly has its share of flaws... the most glaring being the honestly rather small roster where on top of it almost everyone has a clone or two... There's not much unique content for a Musou game. Kind of disappointing after seeing what they did with Hyrule Warriors. Yet, they really nailed the strategical aspect (a necessity more prominent in the History maps), and mechanically I just don't think there's a better Musou.

I do hope we get a sequel. After all, Koei Tecmo has basically all the assets they need with their work on Three Houses, which suspiciously almost looks like a Warriors game if you play it in the full-zoom camera... But I also hope they don't stray away from the pair-up system if we do get it.

Anyway, I absolutely love this series and while this game could have been so much more, there's just nothing else with playing some of my all-time favorite characters such as Robin in a game like this... and seeing how freaking cool they made Frederick.
