First Look at Honeymancer | Demo Playthrough
About the game: Honeymancer is a cute RPG and Farm Simulator with wave-based combat. Play as a secluded Bear Witch. She's a beekeeper and a user of honey magic. Help your bee friends make honey by planting flowers, use your honey to cast spells and protect the forest from evil robots.
My thoughts: First off, I loved the style and I think the concept is great. A bear in the woods fighting off enemies with spells powered by honey. Yes! Awesome! But then we were literally thrown into the games combat system with little to no context, story or exploration.
I didn't particularly like that I had to keep planting flowers to get more honey to just go back into the forest over and over again to face waves of robots and I'm sure if I had cleared all the enemy waves, there may have been more exploration or story. I'm just not a big fan of being forced into combat, especially in a game I hoped would be a little more cosy and relaxing.
Because of this, I felt like the demo didn't progress quickly enough for me and while the game has potential, the demo didn't show me enough of the overall gameplay. It's not a complete no, but it's not a game I'll be eagerly awaiting a release for.
