Fix Fortnite Voice Chat Not Working
In this video I'll be showing you how to fix Fortnite voice chat not working. We cover solutions for if your microphone isn't working in Fortnite voice chat, and also show you how to fix issues where people can't hear you on PC.
There are some settings you will need to set up correctly to use Fortnite voice chat. First, you need to set your voice chat setting correctly to talk to people. In most cases using the friends and teammates option will work fine, however, if you're having issues then you can try setting voice chat to everybody.
If Fortnite voice chat isn't working then you may have the wrong voice method selected. If you have push-to-talk enabled then you will need to hold down a button to talk in game. By switching to open mic you can talk freely in voice chat and be heard by others You will also want to set voice volume to at least 85%.
Additonally, you will need to select the correct input and output device in the audio settings. Typically using the default option will work, however, you may need to select your specific microphone or headset itself.
In the audio settings there is a heading for voice chat. Here you will need to select the input and output device that will be used for voice chat. Using the default input and default output should work fine. However, you can also try selecting your microphone or headset itself.
Also, be sure to find the volume settings and turn the voice volume up so you can hear other people speaking. Setting the voice volume to 85 or higher should be fine in most cases.
Another way to fix Fortnite voice chat not working on PC is to adjust device settings in the control panel. First you can try setting the device you're having issues with to the default Windows device. Once done you will be able to use the default input and output settings to communicate with voice chat.
You might also be having issues with Fortnite voice chat if your device level is set low. This can be fixed through the device properties in the control panel. The level controls the volume of the device. You will typically want the level for your audio device set to 100. This will ensure that you can hear people in Fortnite, and others can hear you.
If your headset or mic isn't working in Fortnite then you may have an application that is taking exclusive control over the device by accident. This can be disabled through the device properties again, with the option found under the advanced tab. When the setting has been changed you will need to restart Fortnite to make sure the changes are working.
Another option to fix the Fortnite voice chat not working error is to uninstall and reinstall the device you're having issues with. This can be done through the device manager. Once a device has been uninstalled you will need to restart your computer to reinstall it. You can also try unplugging the device and reconnecting it, or scanning for hardware changes.
