How to Add Overlays in OBS Studio - Animated & Image
In this video, I'll show you how to add overlays in OBS Studio. There are three types of overlays that are typically used in OBS. An image overlay can be added to OBS by creating an image source. Image overlays are one of the more common options.
To add an animated overlay to OBS you will want to create a new media source. A media source allows you to play videos on your stream. However, for the video overlay to replay you will need to enable the loop setting.
Another option is to use a browser source to add an overlay to your stream.
A browser source allows you to add both image and animated overlays, and can even be used to add multiple overlays as one source to your OBS scene.
When adding a camera overlay to OBS you will need the image or video to have transparency enabled. This will allow the camera to be seen behind the overlay.
These methods allow you to add overlays to your stream in OBS. However, this can also be used to add an overlay to your video recordings, rather than adding them during the editing process.
A useful OBS tip is to have a dedicated camera scene, where the camera and overlay are set to the largest possible size according to your canvas size. Once done the camera scene can then be added to other scenes as a source, allowing you to resize the overlay and your camera together as needed. This is especially useful when creating a new scene for streaming.
