In this video I show you how to fix Marvel Rival lag and FPS drops. The first method that can help fix Marvel Rivals lagging issues is to lower your graphics settings. This can help reduce lag and stuttering by ensuring your computer doesn’t have to work as hard to display the image. If you are commonly running into issues where it’s lagging during battles or when lots is happening on your screen, then lowering your graphics settings could be the easiest solution. However, even if you are using low graphics there may be other issues that can be causing FPS drops in Marvel Rivals.

Another simple change that you can make is to switch to Fullscreen mode rather than windowed fullscreen or windowed. When in fullscreen mode games typically perform better as they are the prime focus. Sometimes you can fix low FPS in Marvel Rivals just by switching your display mode to fullscreen. However, if this doesn’t fix the issue it’s still best to keep your display mode set to fullscreen for performance.

If you are still lagging in Marvel Rivals then you can also try disabling fullscreen optimization for your game. This is done on the application file, and requires you to close Marvel Rivals if you have it open.

Another solution is to disable hardware acceleration on other applications. When you are gaming and have other applications open they can take resources away from your game. One way to reduce the impact of these applications is to turn off hardware acceleration. By default hardware acceleration is usually enabled on many applications. Some applications that you will want to disable hardware acceleration on include Steam, Discord, and Google Chrome. However, if you don’t have the application open while you play Marvel Rivals then it’s unlikely that this is the issue that is causing FPS drops.

If you’re getting FPS drops then another reason may be because of game overlays. While game overlays don’t often cause lag spikes and FPS drops, it is more common than you may think. By turning off any game overlays you will also reduce the amount of resources needed for other applications, which can help Marvel Rivals run smoothly. Discord and Steam both have game overlays which you can try turning off, as does the NVIDIA app. However, turning off the NVIDIA game overlay will prevent you from screenshotting and recording with NVIDIA.

Another possible solution if Marvel Rivals stuttering issues is to turn on or off hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling on your PC. Depending on your PC you may get better performance with hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling turned off, while others may get better performance with it turned on. Ideally, you will want to test playing with it turned on and turned off to see which works best for you. After changing the setting you will need to restart your PC for the changes to take place.

Another reason why you may be lagging in Marvel Rivals is because your graphics card drivers are outdated. If you have an NVIDIA graphics card then you can use the NVIDIA app to update your drivers. However, if you have and AMD graphics card then you can use the AMD Adrenalin software. Both applications make installing drivers for your respective GPU easier. Again, you will need to restart your PC after installing new graphics card drivers.

Although unlikely, turning off debug logging in Discord can somethings fix stuttering and FPS drops in games. You can turn off debug logging by opening the User Settings and selecting Voice & Video from the side menu. Here you will need to switch to the Debugging tab where you can turn off the Debug Logging option. Turning off the debug logging option will require you to restart Discord.

If you’re still experiencing FPS drops or lag in Marvel Rivals, then you can also try closing other applications that are running in the background. Fortunately, closing each application will reduce the usage, making Marvel Rivals run smoother. To close other applications you can use the task manager. With the task manager open you will see all the applications running on your PC. You can right-click on an application you’re not using and choose to End Task, which will close the application. However, you don’t want to close anything that you’re unsure of what it does. Alternatively, you can click the cross in the top corner of an application to close it, then ensure it has closed via the hidden icons menu.
