Fixing Star Wars: The Last Jedi: A Fan-Edit ✔
1,509The goal of doing a Fan Rewrite of Star Wars: The Last Jedi was to bring some sense to all the characters and events, while trying to mantain the plot, theme, and scenarios that Rian Johnson came up with.
The second goal was to maintain lore, consistency, character motivations, backstory, and of course, nostalgia.
I think I fixed some of the comedy, but that's always subjective. I'm not too proficient in that area anyway. Arguably, better than what we got.
Of course, I tried to remove the subversion idea, though I maintained some aspects in a few scenes since I felt they worked.
This retelling is more difficult than simply writing a normal fanfic, because you have to work with what you're given, and not create entirely new scenes, no matter how much better and simpler they would be. So a lot of revelations are simple if not all jammed into one scene (8.)

The main questions and problems I set out to answer/fix, or at least address were:
Why is this a postmodern deconstruction of the biggest movie franchise ever?
Why is nihlism and failure part of this movie, and how can we use it properly, instead of painting it in every scene?
Who are the Knights of Ren?
Who is Snoke? How'd he rise to power? What happened to him?
Who are Rey's parents, and how can she be such a competent force user?
When did Finn learn how to fly?
Why does the force no longer require training?
Why did Luke make a map to find him?
Why did Vice Admiral Holdo not tell Poe Dameron and co. the plan?
Why not do a kamikaze hyperspace attack...in the first 10 minutes of the movie...with all your smaller ships?
Why didn't the other First Order ships flank the resistance?
Why did Rose suicide herself for Finn not to suicide himself, even though everyone in the speeders were trying to save everyone back in the base, when they both potentially would've died, and then ultimately shot on the battlefield?
Why and how did Poe get back to base? How did Rose and Finn? Time? Space? Logic?
Why did Luke milk a cow? Why did he have a gigantic harpoon? Why are we bothering with these silly details?
Is no lightsaber duel pushing subversion too far?
How did DJ get the cloaking data? Why didn't the First Order scan for cloaked ships? Is this special?
How is the First Order tracking the resistance?
Is Rian Johnson the biggest anti-fan of a franchise ever?
Luke Skywalker or Jake Skywalker?
Big plot holes that need to be fixed:
#1. How did Captain Phasma survive the last movie, after she was supposedly put into a trash compactor on Star Killer base, which then exploded? Why did she listen to Finn at gunpoint in The Force Awakens when she had blaster proof armour?
#2. How does Snoke force choke people across the galaxy?
#3. How come Yoda and other force ghosts haven't helped out Luke all this time?
The biggest problem I noticed was the lack of character development, and thus, the choices that Rey and Kylo Ren make are rather plain, though hopefully satisfactory.
