Freespace: Between the Ashes - The Gulnara Heist
6This is the first mission of the Between the Ashes campaign anthology's demo, Mefistofele. BtA is a series of three campaigns (plus this demo) all set between the events of Silent Threat: Reborn and the start of the Freespace 2 campaign.
In the demo, we are criminals for hire, performing a daring heist at a research station in Antares, with the objective of stealing ancient Vasudan artifacts. Posing as hired security, we're going to slip into the station, get our transports docked, and then neutralize the station's meager defenses and keep the local civilian traffic from calling for help or fleeing. After the heist is complete, we need to escort our transport to the Beta Aquilae jump node before making our own escape.
Unlike previous Freespace content on the channel, this is going to be a blind first play! Between the Ashes was released during my decade off from this game, so all of this will be brand new to me as I play it. A sequel, Between the Ashes 2, is in development, but won't release until 2022.
