From the Depths Showcase: Ziphiidae airship and Roach patrol hydrofoil
After messing with little inexpensive vessels for awhile, I finally circle back to big airships. But first, another small inexpensive vessel, the Roach hydrofoil (named after a fish, not the bug.)
To keep from having to keep coming up with names, henceforth my small boats are going to be named after freshwater fish, big boats are going to be named after British Naval vessels (because it wouldn't be seemly to call a battleship "the sea bass,") submarines are going to be named after saltwater fish, and airships after cetaceans. Ziphiidae is the name of the family of beaked whales, which are the least known and most mysterious family of whales.
Aand... battle testing shows that a squad of my little Dory submarines is really better than any of them, at least against surface ships. Since my video on the Dory I have made another variant, the Dory-M, which launches missiles instead of torpedoes. Both of them are nearly impossible to hit and even harder to hit in a wolfpack because they put so many decoys in the water. In fact since I finalized the design, I have never had a Dory hit by a torpedo.
