Well, here is the game's first taste of battle assuming you are playing through the introductory missions first.
[INTRO MISSIONS #3: THE FIRST BATTLE]
- Hire mercenaries
- Defeat the Greenskin Vanguard
Units Introduced:
Knight - Mounted melee unit. Can learn Throw Maces that allows them to have a ranged attack that can also hit aerial targets.
Bowman - Ranged infantry unit. Fires arrows from their bows to take down their foes.
Light Cavalry - Mobile mounted melee unit. Weaker unit compared to knights but makes for a good scouting unit or for hit and runs.
A pretty straightforward mission - you start off with Sir Gwaine with the mission tor hire mercenaries to fight the Greenskin Vanguard in the southeast of this map.
The mercenary squads that you'll meet are all on the northern half of the map - with the Bowmen just a bit to the right of your starting position, the Light Cavalry being almost in the center section of the map's northern half and lastly, the Knights on the rightmost part of the northern half which aren't far from the Light Cavalry. Hire them all to bolster your forces.
Aside from the Greenskin Vanguard that you'll have to face, there is an optional area in the Southwest that contains a Drain-spamming Skeleton. Defeat the skeleton and gather the loot found inside the chests. Equip them on your best troops with some of the items on Sir Gwaine.
Tackling the Greenskin army may seem intimidating at first until you realize that you can poke them until they are weak enough. You can use Sir Gwaine or a Light Cavalry to lure them out and let the rest of your troops do most of the damage. Retreat if necessary then poke them again until the Greenskin army is defeated.
