Last week, 2 employees of Arenanet, known for Guild Wars 1 and 2, were terminated after a situation spins out of control on Twitter.

Jessica Price and Peter Fries have found themselves jobless thanks to Jessica flipping out on a well known GW2 content producer Deroir. Jessica had posted a 20 something tweet description of what it is like to write for an MMO character vs writing for a more static character in an RPG like Lara Croft, Nathan Drake, Corvo, etc. Deroir posted a polite disagreement with a point and asked for a conversation about the topic. Jessica then began belittling him referring to him as a "rando asshat", spun it into a feminist issue by saying she was manspalined to and making things worse the next day by commenting on "hurt manfeels." Peter attempted to come to her defense and that wound up costing him his job too. After being fired, Jessica continues to blame everybody else but herself. Several media outlets are now spinning this as Arenanet setting a precedent that a dev can be fired at the drop of a hat. I disagree with this. What Jessica did was her fault and her fault alone. She pushed this Twitter convo into a realm it shouldn't have been and she acted as an agent of Arenanet in doing so. This would be no different than a customer service person telling you to "fuck off" during a call. Also let's not forget...she's one of these people that are happy to see Total Biscuit's passing and that is abhorrent to me.
