In this chapter, Grace finally cracks Le Serpent Rouge, after which she and Gabriel confront all their suspects and discover that, although most of them are indeed linked to all sorts of secret services, none can be identified as the kidnappers. After Gabriel learns even more information on the Freemasons from Prince James and on the Priory of Sion from Abbe Arnaud, there is only one serious suspect left in the investigation - the owner of Chateau de Serres. Arriving on the scene, Gabriel makes a chilling discovery - and is forced to run for his life, with a pack of vampires nipping at his heels.
