GAIN INVINCIBILITY against Sigma in Mega Man X2 (SNES) - A Wild Glitch Appears! #megamanx2
In Mega Man X2 for the SNES, there's a simple glitch you can perform to become invincible during the fight against Sigma. It only works against his first form, AND it requires you to have the Shoryuken aka Dragon Punch AS WELL AS all three Zero parts, but it's still pretty fun to see in action.
If you don't know how to get the Shoryuken in Mega Man X2, don't worry I gotchu - https://youtube.com/shorts/-FP5-28Ix6Q?si=G9NdT4MFwMnaIZEa
SO. Before you enter the penultimate room in the game where Sigma and the Zero Doppelganger will meet you, perform a Dragon Punch so that X lands approximately in the center of the room. The goal here is to land in the spot where Zero will punch through the floor at the end of the scene.
Normally, if X has acquired all three of Zero's body parts, the REAL Zero (aka the friends we made along the way) will show up, defeat the doppelganger, and then smash a hole through the floor so that X can pursue Sigma.
In this case, however, if your Shoryuken landed X in the correct spot, X will immediately begin to fall to the next area as Zero punches a hole in the floor. X will descend downward in a freefall while Zero's dialogue remains on screen!
When X lands, press the A button until the dialogue disappears, and you should regain control of your character BEFORE the pre-battle conversation with Sigma (you are normally locked in place for this). Now, simply wait until Sigma's life bar begins to fill up, and perform another Shoryuken. If you timed it correctly, X will be invincible for this phase of the fight.
The invincibility wears off if you perform another Shoryuken OR if you finish that phase of the battle. But while you're invincible you can simply stand in place and casually tap the fire button to win the battle at your leisure! Or you can do other stuff as well, and it's just kinda fun.
