Skip Most of the Last Level in Super Mario Bros 2 (NES) - A Wild Glitch Appears! #nes
0There's an easy exploit you can exploit (...) to skip a major section of level 7-2 in Super Mario Bros 2 for the NES! Level 7-2 is the last stage of the game, and it can be kind of annoying, so bypassing any part of it helps a ton. This shortcut is particularly forgiving, because if you mess it up, you can simply try again.
When the level begins, head to the right and enter the castle like you normally would. Go all the way to the right side of the first room and climb up the chain on the far right.
In this room, there will be a chain leading upward just to your left. Typically, you would want to climb up this chain and scale the tall vertical rooms to reach a door at the very top.
However, instead of climbing the chain to the next room, climb the chain MOST of the way toward the ceiling, and position yourself so that you are climbing as far to the side of the chain as the game will let you. In this example, I chose to climb the very left pixel of the chain.
The goal here is to jump as soon as you left go of the chain, and land on the ceiling. Since I was climbing the left edge of the chain, I tapped LEFT then immediately performed a full jump and then held left to land on the ceiling.
If you can jump onto the ceiling, you've done the glitch! Now run to the right and jump over any gaps in the ceiling until you see the room with the Birdo and the Phanto. Drop down and grab the key, then go through the door that Birdo was guarding.
Note that if you play the level normally, you would have to defeat this Birdo to grab the key, but this glitch causes Birdo to drop the key, and you do not have to fight her.
Great job! You skipped a whole bunch of annoying rooms in level 7-s of Super Mario Bros 2!
