2024.02.29. Munch Man (A.K.A. MunchMan) is a TI-99/4A computer game made during the Pac-Man craze. This is not what it looks like, but I'll be editing it to be more like that original solid state cartridge -- which was one of the best sellers back in the day. Munch Man started out as a dot muncher, and was changed to lay down a chain to fill the maze, rather than eat dots to empty the maze -- to avoid too many similarities with Pac-Man. I'll be exploring that option as well.

This was supposed to be my Global Game Jam (GGJ) 2024 entry, but I was pulled into chaos at the office, away from my planned vacation just to enter GGJ 2024. This is also why you haven't seen a video from me in over 2 months. Sorry about that. I have been working on a few cool things, and I need to find time to freshen them up for release. This Munch Man video is quite a rushed video release, in all honesty. I wanted to show a lot more, and have plans to in future videos, especially the sprite scalar part. There really are 5 levels being displayed here, where only the middle one has dots. I have some fun ideas about this.

This is my first recording, on my new Alienware m18 R2, which is a 480 Hz refresh rate monster at 1920 x 1200 -- not 1920 x 1080. NVidia ShadowPlay default settings are not very high quality. Thus, we're getting a scaled image (from 16:10 aspect ratio to 16:9), and a lower quality bitrate. I'll be looking into recording at 4K soon, as well as using VirtualDub2 to upscale to 4K. Also, it recorded my mic! You can hear my Cherry MX mechanical keyboard, which is not desirable. It's non trivial to silence the video after upload. I hope that noise does not disturb the music. I also need a way to fade out the music for tracks that last longer than the video. :/ In time, my friends.

Happy Leap Year Day!
