This is my playthrough of Dark Souls Remastered, played on the PC. It goes from Character Creation to the placing of the Lord Vessel at the Firelink Alter. Stay tuned for Part 2, and enjoy!

Dark Souls is the brainchild of one Hidetaka Miyazaki of From Software, and after the release of Demon's Souls, it helped to form and pioneer a new genre of game called 'Soulsborne', a combination of the words 'Souls' and 'Bloodborne.'

Dark Souls has a reputation of being unforgiving and punishing players harshly for mistakes, and while their is definitely some punishment on offer to players in this game, it's usually because most people go in expecting to be easy, and while I'm not saying the game is hard, I won't say it's easy, either, maybe unfair, but it's definitely a learning curve. When you create your character at the start of the game, the class you choose determines how your character will start the game off, but that doesn't mean that later on your Warrior can't pick up Sorcery, Pyromancy, Miracles, or any combination of the three. Your class really only matters at the start of the game in determining your starting stats and equipment.

Music is, for the most part, never heard in Dark Souls, apart from the introduction, character creation/loading a game, boss fights, and the ending, but it helps to add to a feeling of despair that really helps to bring each environment to life. If you don't like the lack of music in the game besides for the aforementioned parts, you could always have your own music playing in the background, I suppose.

The graphics are gorgeous and just like in, say, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, you can make some rather odd-looking characters, although Oblivion still beats Dark Souls out in that regard, sorry.

The game world is interconnected, for the most part, but it isn't open-world, either. You have to do some things before you can enter certain areas for story purposes, or because they're locked behind doors that require specific keys to unlock, but if you choose the Master Key like I did at the start, then the game opens up considerably, but if it's your first time playing a Soulsborne game or even just Dark Souls 1, I would choose anything else other than the Master Key.

One other thing that I should point out is that yes, I did in fact abuse the crap out of the Soul Duplication Glitch, not to make the game easier, but to alleviate a lot of the grinding I would otherwise have to have done, although I do spend some time grinding the old-fashioned way at first. Sorry, everyone, but I guess I'm just burned out on grinding. Again, I know it's frustrating, but at least I'm honest about it, unlike some people out there.

Anyways, Dark Souls is a fantastic game that I would recommend to anybody out there who feels like video games are getting way too easy and just want to play a game that's more focused on gameplay and action and difficulty rather than worrying about being immersive or trying to tell a story.
