πŸ“Œ EDIT: Important Notes
βšͺ Please be aware of overheating issues that have effected many players' more than adequate systems. Owlcat even made a post about it. https://wrath.owlcat.games/news/20

As such, it'd be wise to do a quick Google to see what other players with similar systems to your own had to do, if anything. (Searching for your graphics card + "Kingmaker" should hopefully give you good results without a hassle.)

βšͺ Mods will likely help this game work in an optimized way, and are worth your time even if you don't normally bother with mods. Many have both been made and improved since my review was posted. Some improve lackluster features such as the Kingdom Management, and others reduce the risk of memory leaks.
---------------------------------------

A quick-ish review of Pathfinder: Kingmaker by someone who played the game way too much a few years ago. I replayed it a bit recently to review it, too. This review skims over the gameplay, story, and my thoughts on both. But I did forget one thing: there are pre-built characters at the beginning, which you can choose from. They don't have backstories that influence the game, but they do simplify the character-making process a lot.

And a small clarification: at the end, I recommended viewing a Let's Play to see if you like the combat or not, but it's not hard. Combat's pretty easy to pick up. Hopefully the snippets in the review help show it well, too. But for the sake of speed, I didn't let a whole combat play out. I recommend viewing someone covering the Old Sycamore area. Clearing out many venomous centipedes is representative of the less structured, kinda dull fights that occur throughout the game. Some fights are structured better, but many times, you're basically the pest control team clearing out a zone of the same type of monster.... And the game's 80 hours is mostly that.

*** 3 Technical Notes: ***

1.) All music in the review is from the game's soundtrack, which was included with the Enhanced Edition version that I purchased.

2.) DLC and special items are being used in these clips. They are the red panda pet, extra portraits, bloody mess, arcane unleashed, the Wildcards, and, although they only show on the menu, Varnhold's Lot and Beneath the Stolen Lands.

3.) Some of the images that I used were public domain (CC0) images from The Smithsonian's digital collections. They're beautiful and free to all, so I'm including links below for anyone who wants them. Please note, though, that I did edit some images for the review. For example, one of the angel images was edited to better resemble Sarenrae:
