Erster Teil der zweiteiligen Savage Frontier Epic, von Beyond Software und SSI 1991 entwickelt. Gateway to the Savage Frontier war eines der ersten Titel der Goldbox Serie, welche den damals neuen Video Standard VGA verwendete, außerdem konnte man auch komplett mit der Maus spielen. Das Spiel wurde durch das Wildnis Regelsystem von Dungeons and Dragons erweitert, außerdem gibt es nun Nebenaufträge, die sogar das Ende des Spiels beeinflussen können.

First part of the two-part Savage Frontier Epic, developed by Beyond Software and SSI 1991. Gateway to the Savage Frontier was one of the first games of the Goldbox series, which used the new video standard VGA, and was also playable entirely with the mouse. The game has been expanded through the wilderness control system of Dungeons and Dragons, and there are now side missions that can affect even the end of the game.
