While controlling Shizuka and Benkei and reaching the Central area with them for the first time, you enter a small fight on the pedestal in the middle of the room. This can be skipped by getting on the optional path at the back of the room with a well timed jump, eventually going around the pedestal. Not sure how much this saves time.

You can do this same thing with Yoshitsune earlier and actually make your way all the way to the top of this room without re-uniting with Shizuka and Benkei again, but unfortunately the portal at the top is inactive... darn, would've been a nice sequence break otherwise.

This is a pretty well glitch-proofed game, haven't found any real glitch techniques from it so far.
