Achieved on July 29th, 2016
PS1 disk played on a PS2 using Fast Disk Speed
NTSC Version
Final SDA Time: Around 1:55:52.20
Final RTA Time: Around 1:55:56.26

This run was timed SDA timing. That means timing begins when gameplay starts which is at the first frame of the circle transition. RTA timing begins when I press the "Start" option in the main menu. For both SDA and RTA timing, timing ends when Rez hits the third TV button in his second phrase, ending gameplay.

I’m happy that I got this 1:55 to go with my 55 Any% run of this game. There are still ways to go with this and a sub 1:50 run could be possible with really good routes and gameplay. But nonetheless, I’m glad I have gotten my time this low in this category.

This run has some really bad parts and some good parts. I was on the verge of resetting after This Old Cave. Click the following link if you want to see the splits. I split late.

Here are my thoughts on each level…

Out of Toon: I failed jumping over the water, got a slow cycle with the moving platforms at 2:40, and failed the rainbow wrong warp at the very end.

Smellraiser: Decent level

Gilligex Isle: Killing the 3 in this order could prevent one jumping over the blue fireball 100% of the time.

Frankensteinfeld: Great level

Mooshoo Pork: Slow start to this fight.

Fine Tooning: Took the slow and safe route to get the collectables reward remote before doing the TV Cancel but I made collectables disappear at 20:47. Overall, this level has some good and bad parts but I won’t complain since I can easily loose time in this level.

The Umpire Strikes Out: Didn’t go for the risky strat where you avoid getting air at 23:52. Solid level.

www.dotcom.com: Now this is where the run gets horrible. Between This Old Cave and this level, I lost about 1 minute and 33 seconds compared to my best segments of those levels :/ Anyways, I used a very strict collectable route for this level so failing to get all 3 collectables fast that the enemy drops at 31:09 screwed me up. Then getting the second remote was absolutely ridiculous.

This Old Cave: I went for the 2nd fastest route in this level. I also had a strict collectable route so collectables not spawning from the tail at 36:15 and only getting 1 collectable from the enemy at 37:55 made me waste a lot of time. This level in general was really bad. I can save a minute alone on this level.

Honey I Shrunk the Gecko: This level went really well and was executed great.

Poltergex: Another good level for the most part.

Gexzilla VS. Mecharez: Great fight but it got a bit bad at the end. You can get a bonus hit on him if you make the building that he will go to fall as soon as he gets up.

Mao Tse Tongue: Not my best but not my worst

Samurai Night Fever: This level went unfortunately really badly for me.

Pain in the Asteroids: Played everything risky after that Samurai Night Fever and it really paid off.

Rezopolis: Sometimes the camera gets behind Gex in certain spots in this game. There are ways to prevent this. I had to wait for the camera to totally catch up with Gex on my way to Rezopolis or else Gex will likely fall when he is riding the platform up. The second disco room could have gone better. Gex can sometimes go through the blowers and not fall so I want to find out how to manipulate that.

Bugged Out: This bonus level is based on RNG and I got bad RNG.

Trouble in Uranus: Slow level.

Pangaea 90210: Getting the first remote was slow but after that, it got better.

Lizard in a China Shop: Played it safe.

I Got the Reruns: Decent I guess.

Aztec 2 Step: I should have not turned back once I realize I forgot this level.

The Spy Who Loved Himself: I think that was the worst camera that I have gotten while trying to get to the platform at 1:38:00.

In Drag Net: Bad gameplay.

Chips and Dip: Decent.

Thursday the 12th: Good gameplay.

Texas Chainsaw: So glad that I didn’t choke the 1:55 on this level.

Lava Daba Doo: One time the game decided to kill me at 1:48:22. Somehow I got the camera behind Gex at the beginning of the lava ride. So I can’t reduce lag by having the camera look at the wall, wasting about 10 seconds here.

Mazed and Confused: Solid level but I didn’t go for the TV cancel though.

Channel Z: Got the easy button to go to for the final hit for once.

End: Mistakes here and there but overall it is a decent run. Once again I think that sub 1:50 is possible but that won’t happen anytime soon.
