I decided to put up 100% runs of each of the main levels and put them on YouTube that have tips in the description. I am doing this mini series as a guide for people who will run Gex 3 100% in the future. I don’t intend to have tips for everything but just the things that you should know. This guide will feature the 100% routes for the rest of the game that is in the final video. Here is my run for reference for this category.

Here are links that explains most tricks that I used in a 100% run.

General tips are in part 1 of this guide.

Superhero Show is one of my favorite levels because of the atmosphere and level design. There is quite a lot to know about this level though and you need to take this level cautiously as enemies can easily push you off the edge as well as messing the route up easily.

There are 2 ways to get across the window washer platforms without activating the platforms intentionally. The first way is to jump across the gaps and the second way is to go to the last washer platform and activate it with Gex's green spit from the special green fly TV at the start. If you are not comfortable with the first method in this video, then activate the fly powerup right away when you enter the level and continue the route (like in my 2:25:47 run). Just be sure at 1:27 to go across the higher sticky wall to jump over to the other side at 1:31 when using this method. To jump across, I highly recommend to not loose momentum and then jump. Other wise if you stop then jump, Gex will not go fast.

Yes, there is another frame perfect TV cancel that you can do that saves about 20 seconds but Gex can easily lick the ledge at the end and not get in the TV so you need another frame perfect tailwhip if that happens. You can spam X until Gex falls for certain.

If you have the strong powerup and enter any dressing room and have the power up deactivate while you are still in the dressing room, there is a chance that the timer goes on and Gex doesn't get the powerup. If this happens, then you have to wait until the timer runs out to get the powerup, resulting in a huge time loss.

In this game especially this level, when Gex moves 90 degrees while sticking to a wall, you have no control over the camera until the camera turns 90 degrees by itself. So for that reason, at 1:33 and at 4:13, I jump off early before Gex goes to the other side of the wall.

I have my own jumping patterns on the ledges so that the rats don''t push me off the ledges. 2 examples are 1:39 and 7:48.

The method that I use for the Mad Bomber is to go near the edge and when he throws his bombs, I angle myself for him to be in the middle of screen and then I run towards the camera and then back to the bomb. It gives me a nice chance to hit him. After killing him, run at max speed and drop down to where the bonus coin is at. The more speed Gex has when you jump off, the more momentum Gex has while falling, making sticking to the building so much easier.

If an enemy seems to push you off the edge in a certain spot most of the time, you can approach that area more carefully. For example, at 2:37, I jump towards the middle of the roof top and not the edge because if the rezzling hits me, I would not fall off.

At 3:59, if you miss the fly coins above the left most lower window awning on your first go, you can collect the remaining 2 fly coins off to the right and then bounce back and collect the fly coin afterwards since you are going that way anyways.

I death abuse 2 times at the checkpoint. The first time is to open the chicken costume door without killing the 3 thugs. The second time is to activate the fan without killing the mad bomber. When you respawn after death abusing, you have to make the camera look at the door and at the direction of the fan to order for these to work. Press X and/or start to gain control to Gex and the camera quicker. Here's a video about this from a couple of years back.

Here's a new TV cancel that you can use.

Thanks for reading all of this and watching my run.

This level run's time is about 7:55.51 and it was achieved on November 29th, 2014
Done on a PS2 using FDS using a PS1 disk.
Timing starts when I can control Gex inside the level and ends at the first frame of the first blackout when I enter the last TV.
