A drone has captured stunning footage of a Soviet Lisunov Li-2 aircraft wreck that crashed in 1971 on Ratmanov Island (Big Diomede Island) in Russia’s Far East. The plane, which was delivering ballot papers to Soviet border guards during the elections to the Supreme Soviet, has remained untouched for over five decades. Photographer Vadim Makhorov, who filmed the wreck, described it as a haunting relic of the Cold War era. The aircraft, still resting on the mountainside where it struck during foggy weather, has become a rare tourist attraction for adventurous travelers reaching the easternmost edge of Russia.
