Thousands of mourners gathered at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu, western Kenya, on October 18 to pay tribute to veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga. His body was flown from Nairobi following a deadly stampede at his state funeral in the capital that claimed over 160 lives. Military police escorted Odinga’s flag-draped coffin as religious leaders and family performed traditional rites, with crowds climbing towers for a final glimpse. Odinga, celebrated for his decades-long fight for democracy and social justice, received a heartfelt farewell in his ancestral home of Bondo, Siaya County.
