Ghostbusters (1987,Sega Master System) full play through.
One of the TV Channels where I am screened a Ghostbusters double feature tonight (G.B 1 and 2) So, I thought id do a full play through of the SMS game adaptation of the first film
First developed by Activision in 1984, the game adaptation was released on various home ports (Amiga, Commodore, and most notoriously, the NES). Later, the licence was given over to Sega, who gave it to developers Compile for port to the Sega Master System. It was eventually released in 1987 for the US and Europe SMS console markets.
Gameplay wise, the game is a very loose adaptation of the first film. Assuming the role of the Ghostbusters, you drive around New York city, responding to call outs at various locations (indicated by a flashing red) and bust ghosts in the process. All the while keeping an eye on the city's PK energy meter. Gradually, as the meter reaches red, call outs become more frequent and ghost activity increases. By the time the meter is full red and if you have met certain requirements, you are then transported to the next phase of the game; Zuul. Here, you must face off against the iconic Marshmallow Man, who blocks your path into Zuul. Once inside, you must then climb the building, avoiding more ghosts. If you survive, you then enter the game's last phase; The final battle on the building rooftop against the Babylonian (no, Sumerian) god of destruction himself/herself/whatever it wants to be..Goza the Gozarian!.
There are also three alternative endings to this game; The really bad ending (you didn't make it to Zuul) The good try ending (you made it to Zuul, but couldn't get pass Marshmallow Man or you died climbing the stairs to the top) and the really good ending (you defeat Goza and save the city)
Here, I do a full play through (which ending I get, you'll have to watch to find out..)
(All rights and copyright to Activision, Compile and Sega).
