A dramatic and realistic depiction of the Gibraltar peninsula for your copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator X or Lockheed Martin's Prepar3D. This scenery add-on brings Gibraltar and the surrounding regions up to maximum detail within the sim.
The airport included in the scenery is Gibraltar International Airport or North Front Airport (IATA: GIB, ICAO: LXGB) which is the civilian airport on the island. The runway is owned by the MOD (Ministry of Defence) in the UK and is also used by the RAF (Royal Air Force) as RAF Gibraltar.
NATS (National Air Traffic Services) currently hold the contract for the ATC in and around the airport (UK services).
The airport is busy and in 2017 handled 571,184 passengers and 302,094 kg of cargo on 4,888 total flights.
The airport is unique as it has a real-world road crossing the runway and handles it a bit like a railroad crossing. It's fun to watch and actually exists.
The impressive scenery features 15cm/pixel ground textures for the entire region in order to they are true-to-life and based on their real-world counterparts.
Gibraltar is not just more detailed but the entire region is more "alive". The airport is packed with car traffic across the entire region ensuring it looks busy as it is in the real world.
Ground traffic is faithfully reproduced including AI traffic arriving in/out of the airport - to ensure your simulated flights are as realistic as possible.
All of the buildings in and around the airfield/airport have been accurately reproduced to make the airport feel more realistic within the sim.
New animations (based on advanced changes within the sim) have been included such as ships locally and cableways and surrounding features to make the airport feel as accurate as possible.
Local landmarks and regions have been included in the scenery such as "Upper Rock" along with the famous fortifications around the island that kept Gibraltar safe from invaders.
Autogen is included in complete detail to popular areas in and around the airport to keep it as busy as possible and true-to-life. Also included are completely animated windsocks along with accurate runway lightings based on real-world charts and maps to ensure accuracy.
As an extra perk, ambient sounds have even been included to create that most realistic feel - birds and such.
The lighthouse on the island has been included (as a new feature) at the southern end of the "Rock" and has been highlighted to give a dramatic effect.
The add-on is released as payware which means you need to purchase it in order to use it.
