We had to take a little break due to Spooktober, but we're back to finish our Valkyrie quest. Sadly this one is the last one starring Valkyrie herself (we have a VN still to look at) and it's a mobile game at that. But don't let preconceptions about mobile games fool you, Glory of Valkyrie is a pretty fun sidescrolling action platformer with a decent amount of movement and combat.

The game uses an overworld map that reminds me of Namco's Dragon Buster series, though you are mostly free to go everywhere. The game also borrows a lot from the first Valkyrie famicom title in that there's lots of items you need to collect in order to progress. Boots that let you walk on oil, cloaks that let you brave the harsh elements, spells that let you see hidden doors. There's actually quite a lot to this brief adventure and it does require a good amount of backtracking through earlier stages once you get new gear. This was a very fun game even if the difficulty was mostly easy.

This game was originally a feature phone game from 2007, but we're playing the android port from 2012. I'm not sure what differences there are besides controls since I didn't come across the original in my brief search. This one however seems to be on quite a few apk sites if you know what I mean and works perfectly fine in bluestacks 5. Give it a shot if you want a nice sidescroller.
