He is just 14 years old and India's latest grandmaster. Leon Mendonca is one of the participants in the Challengers Chess Tour organized by Chess24. In the first leg of the event - the Polgar Challenge, he started off slowly and had a 50% score after the first 10 rounds. However, on day 3, he upped the ante and scored 4.5/5 with some excellent games. Leon went on to beat Mammadzada, Olga Badelka, Lei Tingjie and Carissa Yip - four very strong girl players. He also drew one of the games against Nihal Sarin. In this video IM Sagar Shah invites Leon after a successful day at the office and interviews him about his games!
