Released on May 6th, 2002, RedHat Linux 7.3 was the last version of the OS to include the Netscape web-browser. However, this version also included updated releases of both Gnome and KDE. Installation this one was sorta of an adventure in itself. I actually originally installed it on 86Box, but holy crap was it slow. As a result, I decided to run it on a virtualizer instead. However, the RH Installer crapped out on both systems for different reasons.

So what I decided to do was install the OS on 86Box first as a VHD image, and then copy that install to VMware Player after installation. Since I knew that the Linux kernel would already have all the supported drivers, the kernel reconfiguring itself for the new hardware that would then result in a much faster system afterwards. Thus, RedHat Linux 7.3 is running on VMware Player 17.

VMware Player 17 is virtualizing a workstation with a single core allocated to it. The host has a Ryzen 5 5500 6-Core CPU running at 4.2GHz. The VM has 256MB's of RAM allocated to it, a VESA Compatible display adapter, and XFree86 is running at the screen resolution of 1024 by 768, 16-bit color depth. Also installed is a Ensoniq 1371 Audio Adapter, an ATAPI CD-ROM Drive, and a 16GB HD image with RedHat Linux 7.3 installed.
