God of Lore - Episode 1: From Zero to Hero

I'd be lying if I said I'm happy with the subject matter for my next God of War-related stream. After all, GoW2 kind of ended on a massive cliffhanger. But, as it stands, I don't really have any sort of reliable way to stream the third and final mainline game in what has since been christened "the Greek Saga". But hey, it's not like there weren't other games from that particular period to play, right?
When it comes right down to it, I've got way more nostalgia for the PlayStation Portable over its successor... which is mostly owed to the fact that I got the PSP around the time it launched. For a few years there, it was my de facto MP3 player and there was some pretty cool homebrew on there as well. It also doesn't hurt that Sony was actually trying with it, whereas they pretty much immediately gave up on the Vita. All in all, I'd say that the PSP is my second favorite of Sony's systems after the PS1.
That being said, KI informed me mid-stream that Chains of Olympus might've been considered the worst God of War game prior to the release of Ascension... which is apparently much worse. Methinks they never heard of the mobile that that predates it, but who knows? Maybe Chains of Olympus was even worse than that. Either way, this game did release between God of War II and III. I guess that means I'm sticking to release order for the time being. But that's going to change fairly soon.
My first impressions on Chains of Olympus weren't great. I decided to try playing the game on Spartan (Hard) difficulty... but the finnicky controls pretty much killed that plan almost immediately. KI suggested dropping back down to Hero (Normal) Mode and starting over, which made things a lot more manageable. On the plus side, I did at least manage to make it as far as I wanted to in this first session, even after all that wasted time. That being said, the game definitely feels ambitious -- and when it comes to video games, I rarely use that term as a proper compliment. Here's hoping it wins me over before I make it to the end.
