This video takes a closer look at one of the Aim + Recall loophole variations, namely the one that allows Kratos to buffer certain prompts.

If you use the Aim + Recall loophole in front of action prompts such as: climb wall / climb rope / shimmy / crawlspace / drop down... you buffer it in the background. The game then tries to activate the prompt once you let go of Aim-mode.

If there's no similar prompt nearby when you release Aim, then nothing peculiar seems to happen. Otherwise Kratos will auto-run to the prompt and use it, even if it's not the same one you started the prompt buffer at.

---

In other words...

1. Stand in front of a correct type of prompt unarmed and aim.
2. Recall axe while aiming. Start holding circle as the recall is happening.
3. After recall is finished, keep holding down aim but let go of circle.
4. You're free to move now. When you finally let go of aim, Kratos will attempt to use any nearby prompts of the correct type.

---

The interesting part is that buffering a prompt lets you use this type of prompts from a wider range than normal and even through walls, allowing potential sequence breaks and other mayhem inside the game.

The biggest limitation of this trick is that you usually can't take a prompt buffer very far. So far there is no way to take a buffered prompt up ledges. With some trickery you CAN take a prompt buffer past doors and other prompts like that, though. More about it later, I guess.

---

0:00 - climbing a chain through a wall during one of the first puzzles of the game. This would actually be a small sequence break, but sadly, there is no way to start prompt buffer glitch in the area.

Note: the prompt buffer will disappear when you drop down the ledge unless you walk calmly holding down aim.

0:27 - another puzzle skip in the Journey to the Mountain section of the game. This one doesn't save time in a speedrun either since you can't start prompt buffer glitch until solving the actual puzzle.

Also observe how Atreus keeps teleporting whenever Kratos isn't looking. Snotty kid.

0:52 - in the same area, if you release prompt buffer near the bridge you lower or collapse, the game will always crash. Not sure why. I haven't gotten crashes anywhere else yet.

1:03 - sometimes prompt use from a different height results in displaced prompt use. This particular chain doesn't have a prompt for using it at the upper end, so trying to do the glitch at the top seemingly makes Kratos attempt using the lower prompt instead. This causes him to start climbing upwards on an invisible chain. Unfortunately he just gets permanently stuck in place, so this variation isn't particularly useful.

1:33 - one time I got Atreus to jump on Kratos' back too while he was stuck climbing and they both became stuck. Like father, like son.

1:51 - another instance of displaced prompt use. If you try to use a "drop down" prompt from below, this makes Kratos and Atreus leap down through the solid floor. In case you were curious, falling for long enough in Out of Bounds causes a game over.

2:27 - other examples of dropping down through the floor I found from the early game.

3:09 - some climbing prompts are unique. If you buffer them, they can be unleashed wherever. This causes Kratos to do a dramatic leap on the climbing wall, sometimes over very large distances.

However, too dramatic a leap makes it impossible for Atreus to follow, which seemingly locks Kratos in place afterwards. So you're stuck again.

3:33 - just out of curiosity I buffered an unique climb prompt and unleashed it near a regular climb prompt. This makes Kratos do a dramatic leap on the small climbing wall, after he is stuck again.

3:55 - there's a possibility to go shopping while entering a crawlspace at Völunder Mines. This makes the shop screen close by itself. Also, as an apparent side effect, the lighting inside the mines went all dark, making it impossible to explore. Retry fixed things.
