Future data is a glitch that combines the current game state with the next cutscene or set piece that is loaded in the memory. Here are some tests with it in Chapter 5...

0:00 - Chapter 5-2. The next loading trigger is fairly close to the door leading to Chapter 5-3.

Activating future data, Max suddenly appears at Chapter 5-3. You see a cutscene from in-game camera and on occasion the game also shows Max standing underwater in a t-pose. This goes on for a while, after which Max is stuck in an idle pose. Enemies nearby are also passive, so you can't progress.

0:46 - Chapter 5-3. The next loading trigger is near the corner of the building.

Activating future data, Max teleports to the next Checkpoint early. The enemies in the area become alarmed and there is a short firefight while Max is stuck in cutscene motions and unable to defend himself. But soon the shooting ends and you can watch the cutscene to the end from in-game camera. Afterwards the enemies in the area are passive and you can bypass them easily.

(Not on the vid: activating future data with LMS creates a similar result, except Max dies during the cutscene. Retry takes you to Chapter 5-4.)

1:51 - Chapter 5-4. Next loading trigger activates after having shot one of the enemies. (?)

Activating future data while the firefight is still going on, Max teleports near the roller-door and starts lifting it despite all the fighting. But this animation suddenly cuts short and he is left standing idly. Retrying takes you back to Chapter 5-4.

2:11 - Activating future data after having killed all enemies, Max teleports straight to Chapter 5-5 with a minor camera glitch. Things proceed like normal after the roller-door is fully open.

2:24 - Chapter 5-5. Next loading trigger is after passing the fence.

Activating future data, Max suddenly teleports outside the door of the building and thinks aloud how he had missed Fabiana. Then he gets checkpointed, all the while remaining stuck standing in an idle pose. For some reason the regular Pause-menu is available, so you can then retry to end up at Chapter 5-6.

This might be a minor time save, but if you try to retry too early, it becomes buffered in the background, starting Checkpoint 0 glitch. Trying to Pause too early can also crash the game, so perhaps this isn't a good trick to try in a speedrun.

2:57 - Chapter 5-6. Next loading trigger is whenever.

Activating future data takes Max to Chapter 5-7 instantly. Graphics are barely loaded at first, but in just a few seconds everything appears in its usual place. You can still hear some unrelated voice over by Max in the background, but that seems to be the extent of glitchy effects. It would be a time save in a speedrun, but this part is skipped with other glitches already.

3:32 - Activating future data while watching TV makes Max suddenly vanish. You hear audio from the next Checkpoint while the TV program is on. After the show ends, Max is stuck in place and cannot do anything for a short while. The game thinks he is currently in the boat set piece, and after a few seconds passes, enemies finally discover him and shoot down the boat. Then Max is shown falling out of the boat in slow motion and things are back to normal.

(Not on the vid: Chapter 5-7 and 5-8 don't seem to have places where to use future data.)

4:47 - Chapter 5-9. Loading trigger activates after passing through the gates.

Activating future data teleports Max to the switch and you see the ensuing cutscene from in-game camera. Max vanishes from sight when camera focuses on the captors, but he then re-appears. At the end of the cutscene, Max is standing left in place idly. If you then use the switch, the next Checkpoint begins seemingly normal.

5:30 - The prompt to use the switch is on screen all this time, and using it early causes unique glitch effects too.

Two cutscenes overlap, and for a moment you may see guns of an invisible Max operating the switches. Afterwards Max regains control during the cutscene and is free to move invisible and without gravity for a short amount of time. Then Max is returned next to the switch, and things continue seemingly normal from there.

6:04 - Chapter 5-10. Next loading trigger activates near the end of the pier.

Activating future data teleports Max to the end of the level. The pre-rendered scene begins almost immediately, so the game skips a short in-game cutscene too in the process. Overall time save around 20 - 25 seconds?

6:28 - Activating future data with LMS allows you to view more of the cutscene through in-game camera. However, you can't see much in the cramped cutscene-only area, and soon Max dies from LMS countdown.

6:50 - Activating future data during LMS resolve is the same thing, except you see even deeper into the cutscene. Eventually Max falls down into water completely idle, and when he does, the failure cutscene where Max is shot in water activates. After retry, you're back in Chapter 5-10 and things are back to normal.
