God of War (2018) - skip first puzzle in Journey to the Mountain
35There was a breakthrough with prompt buffer glitch tech, and now a buffered prompt can be carried over ledges. This makes the glitch more versatile and useful all around the game.
For instance, we can now skip this introductory puzzle after fighting The Stranger, saving 40-50 seconds. This skip isn't hard to do, although the rules behind the glitch may be hard to grasp at first since it's pretty complex stuff.
Also, this only works on the unpatched version.

0:00 - the prompt buffer glitch is started. To do this...
1. get next to a climb prompt.
2. hold aim.
3. recall axe.
4. hold circle until the recall animation ends. Then let go of circle.
5. now the glitch should be active and you can move around while holding aim or block or doing attacks. The buffer is released when Kratos is no longer in the middle of any actions.

0:11 - to preserve the prompt buffer over a ledge climb, you have to use a specific setup.
1. get next to the ledge with prompt buffered and aim held down.
2. start walking forward while holding circle.
3. sheathe or unsheathe Kratos' weapon. This makes him climb.
4. let go of aim and circle as soon as Kratos starts climbing.
5. start holding X during the climb.
6. Kratos will do an evade after climbing up. If you interrupt the evade with a block or aim, you can just carry on like before with the prompt still buffered.
Other types of vault / climb prompts appear to have different rules, and these same instructions may not work with all of them. But more on that later...

0:15 - the prompt buffer is released, allowing Kratos to grab onto the chain on the upper floor early and skip the puzzle.
0:20 - to note, you can use these "leap" prompts while climbing automatically if you hold down circle. That might also save a small amount of time while doing a run.
