Due to a popular request, here's a quick tutorial of the AQ IJ. The annotations contain the relevant steps for doing the jump.

EDIT: in their great wisdom Youtube has removed annotations, leaving this video without any instructions at all. Well that's just great.

Here's a text description of the different steps of the jump instead:

0:00 - Step 1. The jump starts with a double jump and AQ. Remember to have a sub-weapon in hands when doing this as well.

0:15 - Step 2. This time, do a double jump, press Pause-menu and cast AQ at the last moment before menu opens. Then switch sub-weapons. If your timing was right, the AQ will be interrupted. Learn this timing so that you can consistently interrupt AQ with a weapons switch.

0:34 - Step 3. Do the above, except after interrupting AQ do a melee attack. Then quickly follow up with another interrupted AQ. This is the basic input loop that you will be repeating to gain height during AQ IJ.

If you start from a good air momentum and repeat this motion fast enough, Kratos is able to jump much higher than normal. Technically not infinitely high (unless you're on NG+) but still quite high.

Note: it's easier to do this jump on PS3 because the loading times are trickier on PS2.
