Somewhere during ancient Rome, a noble family has lost everything. The son Cornelius returns to find that his family’s riches have been gone and his lone servant Doctore is the only one left. Cornelius devices a plan to get his riches back. The only way they can think of is by fighting in the arena. They find a slave named Cassius who fights for them to get richer. While Cornelius sits back and relax; Doctore and Cassius does the legwork to get those riches back.

Aesthetics:

Gods of Arena uses a simplistic cartoon presentation in terms of the graphics. The visuals are nicely done and the characters have a good presentation to themselves. The background is also something that you should notice. There are some characters there that would look like you would recognize them from popular shows if you were paying attention. The game as well has nice fluent and smooth animations. The music has that typical medieval tune to it despite being set in ancient Rome. It does give a nice action packed theme during the battles and a nice solemn one for when you’re not fighting.

Gameplay:

Gods of the Arena is a fighting game but with a distinct style. During the battle aspects, the fights are in auto-pilot. This means that you have no control over your character. They’ll attack by themselves and will win or lose depending on how they are built. There are special abilities that the characters can use which have to be pressed by the player so you have some form of control in a sense. The battles are done usually in a one on one situation but there are times when the players have a team of fighters fighting against another team or more like gang up. You will be fighting in the arena most of the time. The more you fight and win means the more arenas will open up. The later arenas will feature stronger enemies but more rewards in the long run. Aside from fighting in the arenas, you can also do missions. The gameplay for these missions are the same as the ones in the arena. Missions would pop up and go so you can take them when they do appear or don’t. Their difficulty would vary but you wouldn’t lose anything should the mission fail. When you’re not in battle you can use the money that you earn and buy equipment for your character. Different weapons and armors are available and there are those that can give you some abilities. One other thing you can do is buy slaves from the market. You have to make sure that the stats for the slaves you buy is suited for the price you pay as some slaves are overpriced with poor stats and others are cheap with impressive stats. Build your party of fighters with these slaves and take on higher levels of combat. Make sure to also equip your other characters to make them stronger.
