45When it comes to defense added with some action elements, Castle Knight will surely offer both in one game. The focus in this game is to protect the princess' castle from the invading monsters. Use your sword or your bow to attack them. Once the waves are completed, the level is finished. The princess will drop special potions from her castle that contains special abilities. Pick these up to gain new abilities that will help you survive the battle. Don't forget to collect the coins so you can buy enhancements for the castle, add special abilities, or strengthen the weapons you have.
Overview:
Castle Knight takes place during the medieval times. One knight is just minding his own business until a messenger comes to him bringing a message. The message while written in classic parchments uses Facebook font styles and you can even see the Like button on the side. The knight is being called to save a princess in distress. Apparently that’s all the motivation he needs to save this princess and be a knight at best.
Aesthetics:
Castle Knight has a very distinct visual. It blends in cartoon visuals mixed with some realism although not to a high degree of course. The visuals look good and shiny in a way. The overall visual aesthetics look good and the animations for the characters and enemies are fluent and smooth in a way. The music starts with a typical medieval tune when you’re starting with the opening movie. The in game music when it comes to the battle turns into a nice synthetic rock battle them making you pumped up to defeat those enemies as well as protect the princess.
Gameplay:
Castle Knight functions much like a base defense game. You get started off with a tutorial section but it doesn’t take too long to understand. You control your knight by making him move from the left to the right and vice versa. You can also make your knight jump to avoid any ground obstacles. The knight is armed with two weapons being a sword and a bow. You can swap between these weapons at any given time during the game. The gameplay goes where enemies will be invading your castle. There are two ways to fail the level or the wave as it is called. It fails when the castle is destroyed or when you’re knight is killed. You just start from the beginning of the level if it fails so it’s not a big deal either way. The enemies for the waves will vary from being small or something so big. You can take them out with the use of your sword or bow. There are some enemies that take longer to defeat but hang in there. You can also ride on a horse that gives you a boost in speed. The horse does run out of power so you need to get off of it so that it can recharge. The princess will also throw power-ups on the ground for you to take. These power-ups would vary in terms of their effect but they are mostly helpful for you when you would want to take on the enemies. You can also shoot down the flying pigs that give you different power-ups as well. The money you earned can be used for hiring mages and archers to help defend the castle but for a short period. You can also choose to repair the castle for the damages it took. Then finally the money can also be used for upgrades when it comes to your knight’s life and weapons as well as the castle’s.
